Just bought the 16gb for $10 more. Going to put it away for my 5 year olds birthday in Dec.
Does anyone know if these will drop lower in price for black friday????
This is the price they had on Prime Day. I don’t believe this model has gone lower.
I absolutely love this one which we got my 2.5 year old son on Prime Day. I think I might trade in my IPad for a Fire I like it so much.
Can you download YouTube kids app to watch videos?
Yes you can…if you can find it in the app store on amazon then you can download it. We left it off deliberately otherwise baby girl would only be in that app.
It doesn’t support YouTube kids. That’s all my kids watch these days and they are always disappointed when they use the fire at their grandmothers, that said there are a ton of kids videos and other things on it. It takes them about 3 min to get over it. 😉
I was curious about that also. My son likes YouTube kids and Netflix and didn’t know if those could be downloaded.
I downloaded netflix. Idk about youtube but im sure u can in the parent mode
There is so many kid shows for free with the year free.
I got this at best buy 2 for 120 back in july i believe. I love these tablets but 8 gb goes quick. I got 32gb micro sd cards and they are maxed already.
Do you have to get special micro sd cards or will any work?
Any would work
.
So the free one year access starts at purchase? We want to get for our girls for Christmas – any other thoughts on the price dropping? Thx!!!
No-you have to activate it to begin your year. So you could just wait until closer to Christmas:)
I gave my granddaughter a regular Fire tablet for her 4th birthday. It is about $20 cheaper than the kids version. I found a ton of age appropriate apps and moved them all to Amazon Free Time so her mom can set parental controls, deleted the apps that weren’t appropriate and added some book apps outside of Free Time so she wasn’t totally limited. These tablets are super durable so I don’t think you need the extra protection that comes with the kids version and they come in lots of colors. My granddaughter has the Magenta color and loves it. They are very simple to use.
Can someone explain advantage of this tablet? I have an iPad my 2 yo uses. Is there an advantage of getting this for her?
Maybe a little easier for a kid to navigate than an ipad, esp. with Freetime. Also cost less and amazon will replace within 2 yrs if it breaks. Lots of favorite shows available free with Freetime like Bubble Guppies, UmiZoomi, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, etc. However note that the Freetime app is only accessible via WiFi. If you are not on WiFi, you have to use the parent account on the tablet where you have downloaded shows stored. So using in a car is less easy than ipad IMO.
You can also move downloaded videos to your childs profile to watch while traveling. Amazon has tips here https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201642270
Just scored a set for my twins. Putting them away for Christmas. Thanks!
