Thanks for the helpful feedback!
I hate to say it, but we I went to a sandals Jamaica on my honeymoon and it was terrible. I feel like my expectations were fairly low too, as id never been on a “fancy” vacation before. I can’t believe I spent that much money for a crappy time and treatment, but it makes for a funny (ish) story now. My sweet husband took us on a do-over honeymoon two months later at a much cheaper resort in Mexico and it was perfection!!! Id save your money and go to a holiday inn on the gulf coast, you’ll be treated much better!
Id contact sandals of i were u. rhey are amazing. I spent a week in greneda and it was beyond perfection
Which Sandals in Jamaica did you go to? We went to Sandals White House and it was amazing! We took a shuttle to the Sandals in Negril for a day and I didn’t like that one at all! They were so different. Definitely pays to read reviews in trip advisor too.
Oh bummer 🙁 Sorry to hear about your experience! Thanks for sharing!
We were at ocho rios. We did contact them and they blew us off. One day we went across the street to the non beach side. At least they could make a drink over there and the pool was maintained. They say no tips, but several ppl expected them. We had friends go who said that they got champagne and hot towels when they arrived. When we got there they said they were out and all but 4 of us got them. The mixed drinks were terrible. The food was awful (except jerk chicken, but how much of that can you eat?) Everyone tried to sell us weed. We even did some extras like dinner on the beach. It was terrible. Our room was dirty and it wasn’t cleaned any better as time went on. I’m usually easy going but it was just terrible. We did our second “honeymoon” at NH Riviera (now has a new name) and it was perfection (even tho we didn’t pay for all the upgrades like we did at sandals). The bartender was amazing and even taught me to salsa!!! Lol the staff always asked if we needed anything. There were tons of fun things like cooking or yoga classes on the beach. Our room was spotless and gorgeous. The restaurants were fun and delicious. Maybe it was a fluke that our experience at sandals was so bad, but I will never take the chance on them again!
So neat seeing this now as i just ordered a catalog on this. If i had to choose id pick bahamas to go to as its the closer island to florida which i like. Wow and with all these discounts i might be able to swing it. These are basically only for couples and so luxurious wow so nice to know if i were to book there are deals to be had. Their butlers have to go through specific tests. Now this would be a va-cation!!!!
Butlera are wonderful…we enjoyed. Its just fanciness to its highest.
I’ve stayed at many all inclusives. I’ve stayed at over 10 sandals. Sandals is pricey but worth every penny.
Awesome to hear that! Thanks for the great review!
We went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon. It was amazing minus the airline loosing our luggage. The resort gave us some shirts, toothbrush and toothpaste. The resort was pretty and well kept. There was a shuttle to the other 2 sister resorts all day. There were activities after dinner every night like karaoke, street dance (luau themed), ice cream socials, and daily events. It is expensive but it truly is all inclusive, tips aren’t allowed.very relaxing vacation. One of the few vacations I was not ready to go home!!
We went for our Honeymoon in St. Lucia in 2012 and did the whole bulter suite package. It was beautiful, fun and we had an amazing time! We also had some of the best food and drinks ever there! Our bulter even brought us fresh coconuts too!
I agree. My husband and I spend two weeks at Sandals La Toc in St. Lucia. It was such a wonderful relaxing vacation. I’m now convinced that all inclusive Sandals resorts are the only way to go!
Gone to Ochi twice. Best time ever! For a thrifty website it is very expensive but worth every penny. If there is ever anything you don’t like our goes wrong speak up! They go above and beyond to make everything PERFECT for you!
That’s awesome to hear! Thanks for the great review Kaitlyn!
Our family went to Sandals last year at Christmas and enjoyed it immensely. In fact, my daughter and her husband, since getting married 2 1/2 years ago, have gone to 4 different Sandals/islands and have a 5th scheduled this winter. Their first was the honeymoon package with the butler and the whole nine yards, which sold them on going back. Each time they just love it. My wife says she wants to do it another, too. While there, at one of the gatherings, we met and spoke with the person in charge of all the Jamaican Sandals operations. They believe in highest service. If there is a problem, I would definitely check with management.
I have been to Sandals in Jamaica (when it first opened in 2001) and again 5 years later in St. Lucia. It was worth it, but both times we were put in tiny rooms in the worst possible spots on the resort, in St. Lucia at the time there was heavy, all day construction going on just off what would be our balcony to expand the resort – not exactly a relaxing environment. We did complain both times, and it certainly did take some resolve on our part, but we remained polite and they eventually moved us to a different location. They wouldn’t upgrade us 🙂 not that we expected it, but because of that, we had to switch rooms twice in St. Lucia. The food was always very good, but I would recommend making reservations for each restaurant that looks fun weeks in advance. You can always cancel once you get there and see the places, but the popular places are often booked up before guests even arrive. We learned that the hard way on our first visit. The mixed drinks are weak, red stripe beer is always available, but they are always available for free – can’t complain about that! I would recommend upgrading one level from the basic room. It affords room service (hamburgers and french fries delivered to your room at any time is fantastic!) and you get a better room. We met people with swim up rooms (upgrade) and their rooms were not nicer than ours, and the “Private swim up area” was not at all private – there are about a dozen all down a row with a wall partially blocking the view from the one next door – close enough to hear the neighbors whispering with the water acoustics, not to mention you can see them 😉 We took a “river hiking trip” excursion in Jamaica which was great – but we were literally the only ones on it that day and they stop at half a dozen other resorts to pack the trips full of people, so I don’t know if it would have been great with lots of others? The horses on the horse trips always looked poorly kept and underweight – that is why we didn’t take any of those trips at either resort. Also went to the “drive-in volcano” trip – was alot like yellowstone meets the tropics – natural hot water pools (full of very drunk people – avoided that :), bubbling mud, and beautiful gardens. Worth taking the trip, but wasn’t as great as the brochure promised. Snorkeling was fun at both resorts – definitely do that! And we took a catamaran cruise in St. Lucia – it was a nice ride with snorkeling, but they crank up the music when they pass tourist areas to make it look like a party – silly! Tips are certainly expected 🙂 even though everyone says they are not even allowed – at the end when checking out you get pressured to leave a tip, too! I would go again, but probably not for another 5 years or so. I have been told by sandals travel agents that the best way to pick a resort is to go to the newest/remodeled locations as soon as they are finished. Hope this helps – one more thing – the sales are always ongoing, I don’t think you could book without getting “65% off” 🙂
My husband and I stayed at sandals st lucia halcyon in 2009 for our honeymoon and it was amazing except I think I had h1n1 flu, not their fault of course. It was still beautiful and nice. We had the butlers suite and had a fridge stocked with drinks everyday and had a free shuttle to the other bigger resorts. We talk about going back all the time.
