I bought the Samanatha collection Tuesday night, not even 48 hours ago. Now I called to see if I could be refunded the $20 and they said no because it shipped this morning but if it had not shipped they could. Horrible customer service!
Can you order one today and return the other?
I have to mail it back since I don’t live by a store. The closest one is 4 hours away.
I totally agree about the horrible customer service! I placed an order last week for the items I “thought” my granddaughter wanted……sent my daughter a copy of the order so she wouldn’t order it again…..only to have her email me back that I had ordered the wrong doll!! I immediately phoned customer service to correct the mistake (keep in mind this was probably not 5-10 minutes later)…only to be told there was nothing they could do…….could not change or cancel the order! I now have to wait until I receive it and send it back……at my expense for shipping……and reorder the correct items. All total…shipping both ways is going to cost me around $25……plus an extra $16.96 shipping I’ll have to pay when I place the other order! I am definitely not happy with American Girl right now!! Closest store to me is about 3 hours away or I’d just go there to buy! I hate companies like this!

This happened to me once before and AG told me I could just refuse the shipment and then the mailman will mark it as refused and it goes back to American girl. You don’t have to pay to ship it back but you do have to catch the mailman. So just a little FYI. Hope it saves you the hassle of returning it.
If you have access to someone near a Costco, their Samantha for $120 comes with the coat and hat but also the burgundy party dress. That is a savings of $65 for just the price of the doll.

They have the Welli Wishers in store at both ToysRUs and Kohls right now. Our ToysRUs opened a small American Girl Store within the store. It has the dolls that look like you, not the Beforever, and lots of doll clothes and accessories in store. It opened 2 weeks ago at several ToysRUs stores.
Does anyone know if AG traditionally has good deals on just the dolls on Black Friday/Cyber Monday? Curious when the best time to buy is. TIA
They did last year, it was actually the weekend after Black Friday, they had Grace 30% off and free shipping. I used a Costco gift card $80 for $100 GC) so ended up being $76 out of pocket!
Last year they discounted the doll of the year Grace, but not any of the other dolls. I think they offered a couple weekends with 20% off though.
Also, Toys R Us is selling Wellie Wishers now and I used my TRU rewards to buy an outfit!

I really feel like this “special” deal isn’t that great. Last week the same sets were $20 more but you could get $20 off. Am I missing something? This seems like a marketing gimmick.

I asked the manager at our Costco in MD and they said American girl no longer wants to have their gift cards at Costco because they were losing too much money
The stores are offering these holiday bundle deals today as well as online. If you are on the fence because of shipping, like I was, and live near an AG store, might be an option for you. The mall near me just opened a “pop up” store and I was able to snag the Mary Ellen set for $150…and saved the $16.95 shipping 🙂
