I was just wondering if anyone else had bad experiences with Dollar General, not like rude cashiers or anything, but like anti-customer policies. The last time I went was last year when they had this sale, and the cashier refused to do a price check for me because he would have to fill out a ton of paperwork, and it reflected badly on him and management would get mad. Well, I thought it was silly, but I didn’t argue, it just wasn’t worth it. I went in tonight, and a year later, different cashier, and he also refused to do a price check. He just absolutely wouldn’t even try. According to him, if he does a price check the management considers it a form of stealing. I don’t know how that even makes sense! I have never been to a store that wouldn’t even price check something. I understand getting in trouble for too many voids or cancelled sales, but to have a policy where your cashiers have to refuse to help a customer, just telling them a price? How is that a good idea? Our local Dollar General is the only one I have been to, so I was wondering if this was a corporate policy, or just a local policy. Any one have any experience with something like this? (By the way, a guy came in while we where in line and tried to buy a $2 soda with a $100 bill and the cashier understandably refused to break it, but the paperwork he had to fill out for it was just a void slip, similar to what I have to do at my work, asking for a reason and a signature. It didn’t seem like a ton of paperwork to me. But maybe there would be more paperwork to do when he had to balance his drawer later?)
Yes, I know EXACTLY what you are talking about! Last year I wanted to price check some items that I thought might be 75% the Christmas clearance and the cashier did price check 2 items very nervously and kept saying over and over “I going to get flagged, I can’t keep doing this, I going to get flagged” (meaning price checking for me) If it is such a big deal, why don’t they get a price checker that the customer can do it themselves. I ended up putting my items back because it just wasn’t worth the guessing game of whether it was clearance or not. I’m so glad you posted this because I was wondering if I was the only one!
I agree about the price scanner. I do understand stores having to be careful because of the potential for theft and fraud, but I still think its a pretty odd policy. Glad I am not the only one to notice this!
Added bonus: many Dollar General stores give out a coupon during the week that is printed at the bottom of your receipt for $5 off a $25 purchase that you can use on Saturday. It can be used on sale items and with other coupons. I know all stores don’t give them out but they are great to use on items like this where it’s already a great deal.
Def getting these cars as stocking stuffers! Can’t beat the price!
Thank you! My son is going to be sooooo happy! I found a ton of cars…he is obsessed with Hot Wheels!
