Do you need to have direcTV to do this? My husband would like to get the last few football games and the superbowl. Right now we only stream from amazon so idk how this works. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
You do not need to have Directv currently
You do not need directv. If you’re planning to watch it on your tv/ smartTv you will need an Apple TV, Amazon fire stick, or chromecast to cast it on your Tv. Otherwise it’s streaming on your mobile phone only.
We have had DirectTVNow since it was released. We absolutely love it! We got a free Apple TV when we purchased 3 months in advance. Well worth it!

Laura, When you opted for 3 month prepay how long did it take to receive the free AppleTV?
They said 2-3 weeks but mine got to me in about a week and a half.
Jennifer it took roughly a week to receive it, we had an Amazon Fire Stick so we used that until it arrived. It’s only available on this’s for now along with Android and Apple phones. It’s much much cheaper then when we had regular Direct TV and it’s live TV as if it were regular. They will be releasing the app to Roku’s later in 2017.
If you go to a AT&T company store (not the authorized retailer stores) you many be able to get the Apple TV there, instead of waiting for them to mail it to you. Several of the stores in my area were out of stock, but I did find one that still had some left.

Hi, can anyone tell me if you are able to watch live nfl games with this? Seems like you have to pay extra for football games with most streaming apps.
You can as long as it’s live on one of the network station on the package. ESPN is part of the package network.
Does anyone know how to find out if you get Comcast Sports Network or live local channels such as WGN TV in Chicago (big sports fans here, need our Blackhawks games) Thanks! Hip2Save is the best, you have saved me so much $$ in the past year!
Looks like there are 4 packages. This would be level 3 and would include the regional sports channels that are in the level 2 package. I REALLY hope that’s the case. I have Sling right now and can’t watch Penguins games. You can only imagine my pain!
Tried it for the 7 day trial, and it worked pretty good. Opted to pay for the months, and it stopped working every other day. Waste of $35. I cancelled and now use Slingtv. Have not had any problems with that, and received a Roku Stick for paying for the month ahead of time. Directv Now needs to fix it’s issues before I contemplate going back to them. Just Google Directv now issues, and I am sure you will get the jist of what you are paying for. I bet that is why the trial is after 30 days, instead of the original 7. Good luck to those who are willing to try! It is good, when it works 🙂
I had slingtv and I had problems. Their costumer service was also awful. I’ll give Directv a try.

I cannot tell you how much this is going to save us. We gave up cable but kept the basic channels. We pay more than directvnow’s monthly rate and we get waaaay less channels. I’m changing over. Thanks Hip2save. I wouldn’t be aware of this if not for your site.

Hey friends.. I wanted to let you know I signed up today with the INTC1MONTH code.. the screen clearly said my first charge would be jan 26. I am really careful about signing up for things so I was paying close attention. I got to thinking I wanted to know now difficult it is to cancel so I went in to see that screen .. it says Your current plan will automatically renew on Jan 2, 2017 and you’ll be charged.
I started a chat and the agent said she shows me signing up for 7 days not 30, so it may not be a bad idea to check your account page just in case. I’m still waiting on the agent to help me through with this.

Mark so sorry I didn’t see your posted question.. Yes.. You must re enter your code if you visit paypal to pay as the code I entered before going to paypal “wiped” itself out. Just make sure the top says you have 30 days before you’ll be charged before you click submit.
Having a whole month really gives you a better idea about the service.
signed up for the 30 days using the code mentioned in the post. It said ‘7 day trial’ at the top of the page, but when I put my code in towards the bottom, it tells you you have 30 days.
I want to use my phone with the DirecTV app to connect to my dumb (not smart) TV..it has a USB port. Do you think I can use a fire stick and it will work?
