  It depends on what kind of documents and how often you want to print. For me, the toners are able to last for 1500-2000 pages. The toner can be refilled to reduce the cost. The refill kit is available on eBay at 39.99.

   Brother laser printers can be had cheap and 3rd party toner carts are cheap on eBay and Amazon.

   I have this printer from the last time it was offered at this price and it really does a good job printing for me but beware it does weigh around a 100 pounds so it is very heavy for us ladies to even try to move. I have not replaced the toner yet but I bought it as a backup printer for my business and have been using it as my other printer went on the fritz. Toner is usually pretty cheap on ebay for any of the printers I have owned. One thing I do not care for is the top chute for the paper to come out as others have them in the front not on the top. Hope this helps anyone that is interested.
