Happy Friday: How One Reader Scored $270 Worth of Chipotle Meals for Free
Sent from reader, Jen:
As most know, food costs and groceries can rack up a big bill pretty quickly so my household has been getting REALLY creative in an effort to cut our spending on this category. In addition to participating in household challenges (I like the pantry and freezer challenges myself), we recently took advantage of an offer we were able to “bank” from last summer’s Chiptopia challenge that Chipotle put on.
We “cashed” in our reward last week which was worth $270!!!! We then took the ingredients from the catering and not only ate a week’s worth of Chipotle inspired meals (yes, a lot of quesadillas and tacos) BUT we turned the massive amount of leftovers into freezer meals to stretch our prize even farther. In all, our reward came out to 21 meals for the first week (three a day over seven days) plus some freezer stocking of 27 frozen burritos, 20 black bean veggies burgers and several baggies of frozen brown rice to use for stir-fry meals in the future.
Thank you so much for posting that deal last summer! So worth the challenge!!
HAPPY FRIDAY!

Wow! That is awesome!
My friend did this and used it for his Super Bowl party. It was pretty ridiculous! 🙂 and he had no shortage of leftovers!
We used it for the Super Bowl party as well! Bother the game and party were epic!
What was the deal?
you had to eat 12 burritos each month for 3 months and then you got a free catering reward for 20 people. We did it too for my husbands birthday. It was awesome and leftovers…so many leftovers. Needless to say it will be awhile before we crave chipotle again.
Wow I wish they would do this again, any ideas when?
It was only during the summer, and only once ever. It was because business was down due to the news, so they were trying something exciting and cool to bring people back. It might never be repeated if business is back to normal next summer. Or it might be something different next summer. There’s no way to know.
I just picked up my 2nd set of this deal (Hubby and I both made it to HOT status all three months). It is an amazing deal and I hope to see it again this year.,… fingers crossed!
it’s not really free in the end, if you had to eat 12 burritos each month… you spent lots of $$$ there to get the free food.
I haven’t have the chance to eat there, do u mind giving me an idea on the prices for the burritos? TIA
I think they are around $6-$7. I love me some Chipotle but hate how LOUD the music is, omg! That alone keeps me away. Good for you, Jen!
Where we live it’s around $9 each. But they do sell margarita’s 😉
This program was awesome. It seems like every 3-4 entrees you purchased, the next was free and it counted toward the 11-12 needed for the month. It was totally worth it. The catering for 20 included everything you needed, right down to the matches to light the sterno and cards telling what each item was. Well done Chipolte!
Well it IS free because they got to eat the 12 burritos/ month that they ordered in the first place. And the fact that they could stretch out the free food for so many meals made it a better deal
I’m lost! What do bean burgers have to do with this? They don’t sell bean burgers at any chipotle I’ve ever been to! ???
They made the black bean burgers out of the leftover beans from Chipotle.
We used ours (hubby and I) to cater our baby shower! It was a great deal and a huge hit among the guests!
I’ll be right over, I love Chipotle!!! I’ll help you get ‘rid’ of your extras 😉
