Happy Friday: Frugal Summer Busy Box
Sent from reader, Krista:
Hi Collin and Sidekicks!
Over the years, I have searched the after holiday clearance and tucked away little treasures for the kids. I had saved up quite a few for Easter baskets this year and I found other little crafts tucked around the house for “when we had a chance”.
I am lucky to have two little girls that NEVER get bored. However, in that process, they can wreck a room with their toys and games in minutes, and sometimes it is hard to be toiling away cleaning one room while another is being turned into an elaborate dentist office for their many stuffed animals, dolls and dozens of Shopkins. I really do appreciate their free play and imaginations, but sometimes I just don’t want it to take up the entire living room!
With school out in a few months, I decided to put together a summer busy box full of treasures of activities they can choose from and sit down with in a contained area and spend time on. I have gel clings, tattoos they can apply to each other, interesting coloring sheets, and other random crafts.
When I need them to sit down for a bit and contain the chaos, I am going to send them to the busy box and I plan on adding and removing items to keep it fresh through the summer. With the after Easter clearance upon us, I thought it was a good time to share this idea!

Great idea!
This is very cute! There are so many cool activities to choose from, the kids will have such a fun summer!! Really good idea, Mom 🙂
What a cute idea!
Super cute! I need something like this for my tween!
Cute idea!
Great idea!
Love this idea! Totally trying that with my 5 year old this summer.
This reminds me of the type of activities my grandma would have waiting for me when I got to her house 🙂
Another thing my kids love to do is in a nice day we open the umbrella to our patio table and we eat lunch outdoors and start a puzzle and as long as there is no rain it’s a fun project to go back and forth too! Enjoy! It’s a family affair!!!!
Great idea! My girls are now 11 and 8, and the chaos hasn’t ended 😆
Right!?! Lol! I have an 8 and 11 year old too, along with a 9 year old in between. Now in addition to stuffed animal hospital they take half the house outside to be boxcar children or make cakes and other desserts to take to neighbors. I never know what I am going to see if I have been working upstairs for a little bit. Lol! I love this idea of an activity box like this.
That’s amazing your kids NEVER get bored!
Hi! Just an fyi…im pretty sure the dinosaur growing tablets from target (in the picture) got recalled. I remember seeing them on the news and thinking they looked cute : )
Love this–reminds me of the “old days” when my kids were young. I used to do the same thing! Such treasured days–carefree summers ❤
