I need help!!! I live in NY I put a hibiscus in a large pot out every summer past 2 years and bring it inside for winter and try to keep it alive but it dies. Would love to get this but would it survive onside for winter months?
Google “(your city) hardiness zone” and you’ll be able to see which zone you live in. Then search your zone number and pomegranate tree. Should give you an idea of how well/ if at all this plant would work for you.
Fruit plants need specific temperatures to grow. Unfortunately pomegranates don’t do well in my area, but I do get lots of citrus and avocados!
Its so hard to grow fruit trees, just like the above comment, check your zone or ask your local nursery for tips! Here in N Tx plums, pears and peaches grow good, but not citrus fruit which I will love to have!
Thanks for the tip! Good to know!
Look for a nursery in your actual state to advise you on what grows best in your state. I always though that peaches and kiwis did not do good here in Tennessee but I found a local nursery that sells them and they been producing oddles of fruit. 😜
Yes- check with a respected nursery that has master gardeners. They will give you the scoop.
I had a relative that managed to keep an citrus tree alive indoors in Oregon in the winter.
I think having the perfect balance of light indoors during the winter is key from what master gardeners have told me. If you don’t have a house with the light required, you’re fighting a losing battle.

I’m obsessed with gardening, this is my favorite website. She’s amazing & same 5b zone as I. My favorite go-to’s are the garden chore lists, which are organized by month also seed info, lots of information here.
If you want to go further join a local gardening club. Community involvement, meet new people outside the school/kids groups and learn, learn, learn. Our oldest active member is 91, I’m the youngest in my early 40’s. Best thing & easiest thing I did for myself was join.
Above all, many thanks to each money saving post, generous trade & code share…LOVE this site
That’s my rant for today…Happy spring and gardening Hip2savers 🙂
