Happy Friday: How One Reader Made $45 Donation To Her Local School Using Just Coke Caps
Sent from reader, Nikki:
I have been saving Coke caps for quite a while in hopes that there would be something good to redeem them on after changing their rewards program. When I heard that Coca-Cola was doubling each cap’s donation amount to local schools for a limited time, I decided to use all of my caps to go toward money for my kids’ schools. With just a little time and effort, I was able to donate $46.70!
And what’s even sweeter is that my kids both told me how happy that made THEM and how my son was “proud of me” for doing that! Sometimes the end result is better than you even expected! Definitely worth your time to submit any codes you may still have! 👍🏼
HAPPY FRIDAY!
Do you have a funny, “Hip”, or unique photo to share?! Email us at happyfriday@hip2save.com. Every Friday, we post one photo, submitted by a Hip2Save reader, that gives us a glimpse into their frugal lifestyle or simply makes us smile. If your photo is published on Hip2Save, we’ll email you a $10 Amazon e-card!
That’s so very sweet!
We did the same thing! We donated $28.40 to our daughters small private school. Little money adds up!!
Is this still an ongoing promotion? Can I start saving up my Coke caps now? We save our tabs from the cans, which get donated to the Ronald McDonald House, but I would like to donate to our school too 😁.
Looks like the promotion was one week only ended Aug 20.
If you make a purchase at Office Max/Office Depot, you can attach a school to your order and they will be 5% of your order. You can enter your receipt information online for instore purchases, for online purchases there is a link right after you submit your order. I always do this, every little bit helps!
Please take your negativity and discouragement elsewhere!
Humm…suggesting better use of money and a healthier option is negative? Guilty conscious much?
But do you KNOW she drank all those sodas? I donated over $30 to my son’s school with this promo and probably 90% of the caps & flaps came from relatives & a friend of mine who works a concession stand. These posts are supposed to be uplifting, not ‘holier than though’ attitudes.
Mel, I agree with you. Most of mine come from relatives. And the ‘holier than though’ attitudes remark really made me LoL right now. Thanks for the laugh because I can’t sleep! Oh and good job Nikki glad it was a nice family moment 🙂
You can still donate to your school, it just will not be doubled.
Lol SJ. That’s how I feel about school fundraisers…. How bout I just give you $10 and not have to buy overpriced crap and we call it even.
The caps have been saved and collected from many other people.
We have even taken caps off tables when we’ve seen them left by strangers. I personally did not drink all of these! 😀
Great job Nikki! You didn’t need to give an explanation to the negative comments. You know, for all the good things you do there will be someone to criticize you who probably has done nothing good themselves.
Hats off to your patience and I am really glad that your kids are proud of you!
Thanks Melissa! I appreciate your kind words.
i have two coke rewards from boxes of 12 pk cans. Hopefully I transposed them correctly.

Thanks!! I entered them for my kids’ school. Their school collects codes and we have several volunteer parents that will enter them. I like this new Coca-Cola Gives program much better–no daily or weekly limits, and it tells you up front what monetary amount is being donated–no having to convert points to cash.
O’s and zeros are interchangeable at Coke Rewards.
I get lots of caps from the cleaning lady at my office. I also find a ton 12 pack flaps at the park. Don’t have to drink a drop of soda to collect and donate to the school of your choice.
