Make sure that if it is important to you that you note the watts on KitchenAid mixers. This one is 300 watts. I prefer 325 watts for my mixing needs.

Thank you for noting that! I’ve always wanted one and for the longest time didn’t know what the real difference was on these except for the look and color, lol… now I’m not sure if I want a 300 Watts one anymore!

Thank you as well. I had no idea there was a difference. Been really thinking about buying one lately. I love to make breads and kneed by hand currently. Will I want anything higher than 325 Watts?

      • DSch

Thipppy/Megan, my KitchenAid just burned out last year. I actually had no idea either of the watts issue either until my wonderful spouse pointed it out in his search for a replacement for me. Sadly, all KitchenAids are not created equal! I mean, their all good quality, just have to watch for what meets your needs. I don’t mix bread in mine, but I do mix some pretty thick cookie mixes (thicker than bread dough) and I prefer the 325 watts.

For anyone not ready to take the plunge and spend this much on a KitchenAid, I found a Farberware stand mixer on clearance at my Walmart for $55. (Some stores still listed it at $70 and it’s $99 online) It has a 600 watt motor and excellent reviews.

Holy cows, 600 watts… I’m not sure I’d know what to do with all that!

      • Dawn1029

I know haha…i’m glad it has strong suction cups to hold it down to the counter lol

This may just be me but I can’t stand my kitchen aid mixer. I almost always pull out my $5 Walmart hand mixer over using this bulky mixer. It does a poor job of mixing, you have to constantly scrape the sides down and it still doesn’t get what’s on the bottom most times. I always end up hand mixing after I’ve used this to make sure everything is incorporated. Its also difficult to add ingredients. You can either stop and lift the head or you can spill it everywhere. What’s the point of having a stand mixer if you can’t add ingredients while it’s running? I have one of the higher end ones too, would have thought it would be designed better. I would save your money but hey, that may just be me.

Have you tried a shield to add ingredients or paper plate? Also you can adjust the mixing head. Believe it’s supposed to be able to push a nickel around the bowl.

Oh bummer 🙁 Sorry to hear you have found yours difficult to use. Thanks for taking a moment to leave an honest review!

I can’t imagine life without mine! I haven’t owned a hand mixer for at least 15 years. I think part of it is how much/what you are making. I can’t imagine making whipped cream or meringue for pavlova with a hand mixer. And I’d much rather use the bread hook to knead dough than do so by hand.

I have the same problem with my 6qt model. Sadly, I’ve read it’s a common design flaw with the bigger bowl models.

I just bought this from a Macy’s last week. It’s absolutely beautiful. I love the look of the glass bowl. I can’t speak for how the wattage is as I’ve only mixed Brownie batter so far.

That’s great to know how much you love yours! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

How do the Macy’s rebates work with getting items free. The other mixer with 325 watts is 544.99 so 272.50 after promo and there is a mail in rebate for the food grinder or slicer attachment. Do they send you the item you select or do you buy the free item and send it the mail in rebate to get reimbursed?

    • holls

Never mind, that mail in rebate doesn’t start yet. It is 40 dollars for the other mixers.
