A club I’m in raised money for hurricane victims, and the treasurer bought a 300$ card from cash card.com. The family went to use it 2 months later and it had a zero balance. Since it’s past 45 days we have no recourse to recoup that money. Anyone else had a problem like that? I will personally never buy a used card online. It’s not worth the risk!
This happened to us on gift cards we purchased via Raise.com. Luckily, Raise has a really good policy when gift cards have the incorrect balance and will refund you a full year after you purchase. It happened to us more than once so now I always buy right before I use. I never buy it unless I’m going to use it right away, no matter how good of a deal it is. I recommend buying through a site with a really good refund policy, like Raise.com (and no, I don’t work for them, just a satisfied customer).
I haven’t had a problem like though I do buy from cardpool and raise (not raise anymore thought cause they’re bad about giving referral credit imo). But they do both have a guarantee program. I also make sure to try to use asap. If you give as a gift, you should try to switch the gift card with a new gift card # at the store so you know it will have the amount for sure.

I had the same problem with a Lowes card purchased thru ebay with paypal. Although it was past the 6 month deadline, paypal refunded my purchase with no problem. Lesson learned…now I check the balance when I receive the card.
I bought a Sears on through PayPal digital gifts on eBay and went to use it a few days later and a odd number was missing from the balance. They didn’t wanna help me much but I finally got my money back.
