Have to instant pot sous vi and wow best steak I’ve ever had
Love my sous vide. I have the one from Anova but it cooks meats perfectly!
I’m confused how this works isn’t like just boiling the meat? I never even heard of this. Maybe someone can help me understand I did google but don’t quite get it
It keeps it at a constant temperature throughout and cooks meat evenly. It’s helpful for difficult to cook meats like chicken breast and it’s nice for people (like me) who are paranoid about cooking meats and tend to overcook it.
Oh yea! Also it’s in a bag so all the juices are still in there. If you boil meat I would think the juices would come out and be in the water and become tasteless once you take the meat out.
Anyone have any good recipes for this. I just got one and am not the best at it yet. Thanks
Me too! I got one for Christmas and I’m clueless where to begin lol
My husbands a chef and loves to Sous Vide. He typically Sous vide in normal marinades or dry rubs. He did a London broil the other day in a homemade steak dry rub and it was just as tender and tasty as a filet. Usually London broils are rather tough. Sous vide duck is amazon as well with a red wine reduction
*amazing
Does it come with bags to put the food in? If not, does anyone have recommendations on what kinds to buy and where? TIA
If you have a food saver that would work perfectly or you can also get vacuum seal bags on amazon eBay for like $15 for a 5 pack that are reusable. Look up Sous vide vacuum seal bags.
Usually you just use bags that have a seal, like Ziploc, and cook on a low temperature over a long period of time similar to a crock pot. You can also cook other foods, besides meats. Hope this helps, Michelle!
I just use regular ziploc bags and it’s completely fine. I think they recommend a heavy duty bag only if you have a large piece of meat, so 4+ hours of cooking time is needed.
We have the anova brand and it is amazing! The best steaks we have ever had. Our favorite so far is filet with fresh rosemary, garlic and butter. Then we sear once it’s complete. These are definitely worth every penny!
