Please be careful feeding your cat dry food. My cat just spent several days at the emergency vet due to urethra blockage from eating dry foods (crystals form in the urethra). Thankfully…$2500.00 later…he has recuperated. He will only be fed wet food from now on! Cats can die within 3 days if they are blocked.
Thanks for the information. However, I don’t think this is the norm for all cats though. I have always fed my cats dry food and my first cat lived 17 plus years. Our 2 cats now also eat dry food daily and they are both 8 years old and doing well. I will take note of any distress they may have and take them to the vet if needed. I’m sorry you had to deal with medical issues with your cat. I hope he is doing well now.
One cat I had when I was younger had this issue. After his vet visit, we stopped with the table scraps he used to be given (& steal) & he never had another problem. Since then, I have had 7 cats on my own, fed them both wet & dry food & never had a problem. But I know it’s more likely to happen in males, of which I only had 1 of.

We switched our cats to Purina One a year and a half ago. Pretty healthy compared to cheap brands and our fur babies seem to really like it
