These are very cute. I have mixed feelings about them though. I have a daughter with Down’s Syndrome. I hate that she has to feel “different” in any way. I don’t know that I would have her wear this shirt to advertise that she is different. It is already bad enough that people have to stare at her when we are out. Taking in her differences. I know that this is normal behavior, but it will never NOT bother me. Another thing that is bothersome is that people will ask me how is your daughter today? Um, she is standing right there, why don’t you ask her. She can talk! It would be so awesome that when people notice her, they would just smile and say hi. Not give her the stare down. Not everyone does this, but it happens so often. Maybe my little rant will reach a few people. I understand a second glance. But, just say hi! We are one of the #luckyfew to have her! And hey, thanks for all of the positive posts that you have posted for World Down Syndrome Day today!
Thank you Laura for trying to educate the rest of us. Im sure not all of us know how it feels like to be in your shoes.
I agree! Well put and a good reminder to everyone!
Thank you for sharing all of that!
Oh, I love these! I love that it incorporates the triangle. I’m buying to support my niece. She’s my favorite human ever! 😍
Your post is a great reminder to all! I have been a special education teacher for 15 years. I typically have adults come up to me when I’m with my students and ask me questions about them. My response is always, “That’s a great question and since she’s standing right here, she can answer for herself!”
Do you know if the proceeds are donated to a Down Syndrome association?
Watch the carpool karaoke that some moms sent to james corden. So sweet !!
