For folks who already have Kidde smoke alarms, here’s a report about recalls: https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2018/03/22/kidde-smoke-alarm-recall-issued/448414002/
Was wondering about that.. thought that this was the brand that was being recalled for failure to work
Thanks for the helpful reminder! https://hip2save.com/2018/03/22/kidde-dual-sensor-smoke-alarms-recalled-for-failure-to-work-during-fire/
These are NOT the recalled models. I just replaced five units in my house because they had expires and wish I had waited for these ones because they have the 10-year battery in them.
Please check the date on your smoke detectors. The sensors go bad after 10 yearsand they may no loner be protecting you or your family. On the back of them a date is printed. That’s either the manufacturered date or the expiration date. If it is the expiration date it typically says “expiration date.” If it just has a date listed that is typically the manufactured date and the unit is good for 10 years from that date. I just ordered my new ones from Amazon and they came with a 2016 date, so I already lost 18 months of usage.
