Has anybody had any experience with even exchanges at JCP?
At Kohls, they will only allow you to do an even exchange if the Carters item is still in their system, is not on clearance and has not been clearanced out. So, if you have a $26 5-pack of Carters bodysuits that you bought 2 months ago, you will not be allowed to even exchange for another $26 5-pack of Carters bodysuits of a different style. I tried at 2 Kohls stores. I guess it wouldn’t be as much of an issue at JCP though because you could just return something you bought without having to deal with the issues that earning Kohls cash brings.
Also, super bummed that Kohls is redoing their toy department and will no longer be accepting promos or discounts on toys. The category discount sale of $10 off and a 30% discount made some sweet deals last year. Kohls is reducing some of the toy msrp prices though. The prices are lower but will affect you if you purchased at the higher msrp and wish to make an even exchange after the devaluation. I bought a fisher-price toy with the msrp of $49.99 that I wanted to even exchange because I did not like it. However, the MSRP was devalued to $39.99 only a few days after my purchase. Kohls would not allow an even exchange for a $49.99 toy that I could have purchased in my original transaction for the same price. I had the receipt to prove the value of the toy when I purchased it but that value of the item when I purchased it was still not honored. I tried at 2 different Kohl’s. Both denied the exchange. Other fisher-price toys were not devalued. So, there was nothing I could even do the exchange for at the lesser value.
I have been more of a Kohls shopper due to the discounts. JCP coupons have always had so many restrictions. But, since returns and exchanges are such a hassle (especially complicated by Kohls cash) and promos can no longer be applied to toys, I think Kohls doesn’t really have the price appeal and loses its edge when it comes to convenience (returns and exchanges) in comparison to Target, Amazon or JCP when shopping for my new baby.
My experience with JCP has always been super easy returns and exchanges. They have always been very accomodating to me. Love JCP!
I have had people at JCPenney do an even exchange although they took my ID so I’m not exactly sure how they processed it. I am also disappointed that Kohl’s no longer accepts discounts or coupons on toys. I guess they are taking advantage of the fact that toys r us is out of business. I’ve noticed I have been shopping more at JCPenney and less at Kohl’s.
Kohl’s sucks
