Colin do you know if the prices through Shipt are the same as in the grocery store?
They are typically just a little bit higher….You can expect to spend SLIGHTLY MORE. They do offer specials where if you buy certain $$ out of specific products, you’ll get a credit. Personally I think it works out in the end :)…Plus you get the free time on top of it!!
Hi Jessica! There may be certain retailers who have slightly higher prices than what’s advertised in-store. That information will be disclosed on that retailer’s Shipt page. Hope that helps!
In my area, Publix is definitely higher. It’s about $.10-$.25 higher on most items. After paying the higher prices and tipping, I can’t justify using this service (I’m not super busy or have little ones I have to take with me). I will say I haven’t had any problems with customer service. Once, a substituted item was way different and they credited me the difference. I also received items I didn’t order and they say to just keep or donate them.
Thanks so much for sharing how your orders have worked out for you! I love it when customer service is helpful!
I have found that at Meijer the items I usually buy are significantly higher than in store. They will have Shipt specific specials, but the other prices tend to be 15-20% higher. If the item is on sale in store it isn’t always on sale for Shipt. This has really driven my limited use of Shipt. It is a great option for those that need it, but for me, I can’t get over paying that much more for each shipment on top of the membership fee.
Actually, for Target, the Shipt prices are the same as in store.
Just placed my order and used Ibotta. You get 2% back 🙂
I LOVE SHIPT!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
My personal shoppers have ALL been wonderful.
Awesome! That’s so great to hear! Thanks for taking a moment to comment!
You do also tip the delivery people correct?
Yes! Please do! While not required, it is just like any other service, sometimes harder because customers have the ability to keep adding onto their list while you’re shopping it. I’m a Shipt shopper 😁
We tried shipt. Compared prices to our target. Almost 20% more and no cartwheel or store sales included. My area has a 4 hour wait, and if you order after noon, you’re delivery won’t be until the next day.
My friends also complained that the in app sales are not honored because they’re different than the store prices. Customer service sucks and so not worth the costs on top of costs for a minor inconvenience of going to store.
DARN! SO sorry to hear about that. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!
We didn’t see this as a good deal for us. Not only is it a fee to use, even if you have the membership if it’s a small order, the prices were also fairly elevated on comparison and sales and coupons didn’t line up. Also, you should tip your shopper a reasonable amount, so in all you’re ending up paying a major premium for a service that has much cheaper comparable services, depending on your area.
Prices in my area were either the same or very close to the store, but the two times I’ve used the service my orders have been 3+ hours late in being delivered! The first time they gave me a credit that almost covered the order, the second time just a ‘sorry about that’. Would be great if delivery was any near on time
Where do you put the code?
Great question, Amber! Thanks for asking! We have updated the instructions to include –
You should receive a pop-up that states “Let’s get started with your membership!”, at the bottom of this box, you’ll see “Have a promo code? Click here.”
Be sure to check that out at the bottom of the post! Hope that helps!
Unless I was an extremely busy person this just doesn’t seem like a good deal! By the time you pay the membership fee, delivery fee (unless you have a $35 order), tip the delivery person AND pay higher prices than in the store along with the inability to use coupons, you’re putting out quite a bit just to save some time. But having said that, I realize there are people who physically can’t get to the store and this would be worth it to them. 🙂
If I already have a membership will they let me use this for renewal?
I love shipt. Sometimes they do run 15 to 30 minutes late then what they proposed to you. But I usually have my groceries within two and a half hours so nobody’s complaining. The prices at Target seem to be better than the ones at Kroger’s. I don’t use it all the time for groceries but I use it when I need it. It’s a great service and has saved me some sanity with two small kids and working a full-time job. When I have missed items or had customer service issues they always credit my account. The fact that the driver calls you when she’s arrived at the store to see if you need anything else is amazing. Sometimes you can get them to pick up stuff at the store that’s not necessarily on the shopping list to choose from in the app. For example we wanted cookies and cream ice cream from Blue Bell and it was not available to select and the app however this Shopper found it when she got to the store. Love it!!
Free store pick up is much better. You have to drive to the store, but that’s all you have to do they load your car for you and then you drive off. I haven’t tried Target’s drive up service yet, but I can tell you that it’s awesome at Walmart. It’s free with no mark-up on items. Tipping is not allowed so that’s another saving vs. Shipt. It saves you a ton of time and effort. The worst thing I hate about shopping Walmart in store is the mile long walks through the monster store and waiting in the ridiculously long check out lines. No more with free pick up. An added bonus is that you can shop with the app at home so you can easily check your pantry to see what you are low on. Otherwise when I shop in store I often buy things I don’t truly need because I can’t remember if I’m low on it. Also, when I shop in store I risk making impulse buys which I’d rather avoid doing. Especially helpful when you have to bring your kid with you on your shopping trip and the kid wants to buy every little silly thing he or she sees. Free store pick up curbside is a home run for me.
