Select U by Kotex Sleek Tampons Being Recalled (Check Your Stash!)
Use tampons?
Kimberly-Clark has announced a voluntary product recall of its U by Kotex Sleek Tampons Regular Absorbency for a quality-related defect that could impact the performance of this product.
Why? The company has received reports from consumers of the U by Kotex Sleek Tampons Regular Absorbency, unraveling and/or coming apart upon removal, and in some cases causing users to seek medical attention to remove tampon pieces left in the body. There also have been a small number of reports of infections, vaginal irritation, localized vaginal injury, and other symptoms. 😬
The recall is limited to specific lots of U by Kotex Sleek Tampons Regular Absorbency, that were manufactured between October 7th, 2016 and October 16th, 2018 and distributed throughout the United States and Canada between October 17th, 2016 and October 23rd, 2018. A full list of recalled lot numbers is available on the U by Kotex website.
Any consumer with the impacted U by Kotex Sleek Tampons Regular Absorbency in their possession should stop using the product immediately and promptly contact Kimberly-Clark’s Consumer Service team at 1-888-255-3499 between 7:30am – 7:00pm Central Time M-F for information regarding this recall.
Eek! Well that is a new and disturbing recall! I don’t use this brand, but I appreciate you posting the information.
Thank goodness I haven’t had to keep a “stash” for about10 years now. Best thing ever!! 😁
Whaaat ??
Yikes. Another reason to use a menstrual cup!Once you get the hang of it it’s the best thing ever.
What brand do you recommend? Ice been wanting to try them.
I have a diva cup and love it. I’ve had it for almost 3 years, I haven’t bought any other products.
There are cheaper brands out there. I bought one of those and it too works.
Menstrual cup is the only way to go. There is a learning curve at the beginning so you need to wear a liner. But $30 for 3 years is huge savings.
I second a menstrual cup! I feel so much cleaner and confident on my heavier times
I have the Pixie cup from Amazon. You’ll probably need to trim the stem so it’s more comfortable. Watch videos on the divacup website for tips!
thank you for this info as I have many boxes of these.
I have 7 boxes on recall list…..plus I have many not in boxes that I keep in bathroom storage container…..was on phone with them but got disconnected……back on hold again. Hope they replace them because they aren’t cheap. Kinda freaked out cuz was using them ATM.
I used 6 boxes and I did have problems with them unraveling.
omg. Sharing with my friends. Thankfully no longer an issue for me personally, and my two girls will only use cloth pads (Y)
Wow. I’ve probably been using these for months now – I love this brand and stock up when there’s a sale. They won’t be happy when they hear from me. Easily a few hundred dollars worth of tampons over the last two years from stockpiling.
This is horrible. I’ve never used this brand, but I’m def. sharing with all my friends. Thanks for sharing.
I called about an hour and a half ago. The call took 15 minutes total, including hold time. Gave them the info off the boxes (bought 6 boxes off Amazon, used 1.5) and was told a check is on its way in 2-3 weeks. Now I just have to get ahold of Emerson on the Sensi recall…not my best day!!
Yikes! Cups are the way to go! Almost like not even having a period.. and you don’t have to worry about stuff like this 😳😳😳
This is the only brand I use and I’ve noticed the strings are so short on some that it’s hard to get them out lately. I don’t even have boxes anymore and the ones I do aren’t even on the recall list. 🤷🏽♀️
I got these last year in bulk off an amazon deal and yep mine are recalled!! Explains why they were always unraveling upon removal – I figured that must be how this brand is! Amazon already contacted me to offer a refund
I did too–amazon actually just sent me an email about it
That’s nice that Amazon has contacted you!
Ugh I remember I used the regular absorbency at one point but I think I went through a box or two. I don’t remember them unraveling but I do remember it was super uncomfortable to take them out. When I was using them I was new to using tampons so I thought it was normal at the time
