Bought a pack for each of my family members for Christmas. We all use and love dryer balls. (And I seriously dislike fabric softener of any sort. It actually makes me cough and wheeze when other people use it and come close to me. They have no idea.)

For anyone on the fence about these- they are amazing! If you’re still using dryer sheets- read up on dryer sheets and get rid of them 🙂 I put a couple drops of essential oils on these and our clothes smell amazing!!!!!

I have been using these (yes this specific brand) for over 2 years and they work great. When I have a load of laundry with polyester fabrics I only need to add half a dryer sheet to reduce static.

I bought these same dryer balls a couple years ago, and they have really held up. This is a great price!

I got this deal earlier this year and like not using a dryer sheet BUT these leave my clothes SUPER static-y! Are they supposed to do that?

    • Katie

Mine do the same thing! 😕

Make a few tennis ball sized aluminum foil balls and they will help with that static. Unless you are drying fleece- then there is no hope lol

      • Jen

I was going to say the same thing. Such a disappointment. I went back to dryer sheets.

    • Jessica

Attach a metal safety pin to the dryer ball to eliminate static.

I purchased these from a previous post. I don’t find them to be as effective as all the amazing reviews say. My clothes remains staticy, dry time is the same ( no matter how many balls I use 4-12). The worst part I can’t get rid of the goat smell, yuck! They leave my clothes smelling funky. Even after I washed them a lone 4+ times. I tried essential oils and they just smell like lavender goat. Maybe I just received two bad batches but I just donated them.

Oh bummer! SO sorry to hear about that! Thanks for the honest comment!

Lavender goat!!! Sorry- I hate that they don’t work for you but that’s hysterical! (They don’t work for me, either.)

    • Kate

LOL! “Lavender goat” is so the best name for a fragrance.

I bought these last time they were on sale and popped up on this site/app and i adore them! My king size comforter doesn’t bunch up and dries without me having to constantly stop and restart the dryer to uncoil it. Before I’d have to reset it 4-6times because I’d be busy and forget, so they saves a lot in time and electricity. VERY pleased!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Awesome! I tend to forget about my laundry too! Thanks for sharing your experience with us, Desiree!

The reviews for this product is coming up on FakeSpot as an F.

Hi. I’m the creator/brand owner of Smart Sheep. I can assure you all of our reviews are organic and from real customers. We do NOT engage in getting “paid for,” or incentivized reviews in ANY way. I actually started this brand back in 2013, before incentivized reviews were even a thing. I have worked hard to get positive reviews from my amazon customers by offering a high quality product paired with great customer service.

Fakespot penalizes us for reviews being “too positive.” Many of my competitors have 1-star reviews related to moldy products. We pay for a special drying process so that our dryer balls are never moldy. We also do our quality checks locally, so I see the product myself before it ships out to amazon. So yes, we have a high rate of positive reviews than our competitors, because we offer a high quality product.

We are also penalized on Fakespot for have too many reviews that are not verified. Whenever we run a sale that offers more than 20% off (such as this sale today, on Hip2Save), amazon will take away the “verified” badge from any reviews we get from this sale. So deal-site customers often lose the “verified” badge. Because I offer sales on deal sites and through lighting deals, about 15% of my reviews have lost the verified badge. However, they are still real customers–they just bought my product on sale.

I hope this answers your concern about our grading on FakeSpot. Thanks for your interest in Smart Sheep!!

Thank you for taking the time and positive stance on answering the above comment regarding amazon reviews.

How long do these last, or when should I replace them?

        • Barbara

I have been using 2sets of wool balls for at least 4 years now. I LOVE them.

      • Arvada

I LOVE my wool balls. I have been using the same sets every. Single. Load. For over 4 years now. They have held up fine. No smells, deterioration or negatives here. I buy them with good sales and just keep putting more in the dryer. Lol.

        Is it not valid anymore?

I haven’t tried these… I have the plastic ones. I still get static but I spray a little fabric softener/water mixture in the dryer to help.
Plus Trader Joe’s has a 4pk for under $5 right now, ymmv.

  6. StacyD

The static is from over drying. If you’re getting static you have to reduce the time and lower the heat setting. The wool balls aren’t creating the static, drying the clothes too long is creating the static. And with wool balls the clothes dry faster than they do on your normal settings. Also, separate the synthetic fabric and dri-fit materials…they dry much faster than cotton.

    • Lisa

I agree – over drying. I hang/air dry my dri- fit and synthetic clothing. They dry fast plus no static. Dryer sheets are toxic. Wool balls are a healthier choice.

      • Chris

        That’s helpful- I didn’t realize that. Thanks!
