I had a manual push mower and they work great and gives you a nice workout…if your grass is already somewhat short. But if your grass is anywhere near tall….2-3″ plus, forgot it. Takes a lot of muscle to push. And if you have mulch, rocks, twigs, etc in your lawn, they will jam the blade. Also any really good for small yards.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with these, Ivan! My dad has one and uses it every so often for exercise or smaller yard areas.

It IS a great workout! Especially if you get twigs and branches falling on your lawn. The mower will stop dead in its tracks and the handles will give you a good gut punch! LOL! Our yard is small so it’s a nice quiet alternative.

We have this mower and paid $199 on Amazon back last fall. It’s fabulous. Just ordered a second one for my daughter’s home and used my debit card discount and $10 off Target coupon from the mail!!! Thanks so much!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh awesome! Glad you could grab one for her, Linda! You’re so welcome!

I just found this at my Target for $65! Perfect for hard to reach places in the lawn that hubby can’t usually get with the riding mower!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Wow! Great find, Rachel! Thanks for the heads up on what you spotted in your store!

Boooooo! It said shipping no longer available to where I’m at in Louisiana. Tried my mom’s address in N.C., said the same thing.

Oh bummer! Sorry to hear that!

I’m glad to know that some people have had good luck with this mower. But, in all fairness, I feel like I need to warn you to check lots of reviews before you make this purchase.
I bought this mower a couple of years ago in an effort to be more environmentally friendly. After spending two summers fighting with this monster, I set it out on the curb during clean-up week.
As someone else mentioned, unless your grass is quite short (and then why would you cut it?), this mower doesn’t cut well. Oftentimes, it just pushes the grass flat. Usually, I had to mow my lawn twice–once in each direction–and it still didn’t look great.
Now I bought an electric lawnmower, and I love it. Yes, it was expensive but worth every cent!

Darn! I’m really sorry to hear about your experience, but we sure appreciate your honest feedback!

Same experience as many. I leave it in my backyard and cut a couple of times a week while my daughter plays. She knows to stay away. I have a hill and it is hard to get my much nicer Ego mower down there.

I mow the area 2-3 times in different directions at the lowest setting and then have to get the tall pieces that shoot up 2 feet overnight after a rain. Maybe have a string trimmer handy for those?

I’ve stored it outside for 3 years and it is still sharp and looks great. Gets stuck on thick grass, sticks, walnuts, sometimes air. I forgot you can change directions of the clippings, might help with getting stuck on grass. Have a strong back!

Same experience here. I don’t have this specific brand, but I purchased a reel mower this year because I have a small yard and 3 young children. I figured using a reel mower would eliminate the gas fumes around the kids, plus it would be quiet so I could still talk and engage with them while I was cutting the grass and they were playing. I loved it at first – when the temperature was still somewhat tolerable. Now that we’ve been having ninety degree weather, this thing has killed me. As others have said, if your grass isn’t already very short, good luck getting a good cut and good luck being able to push it for long without it coming to a dead stop and hitting you in the stomach. I purchased an electric lawn mower from Menards this past Monday and I LOVE it. Still quiet, still no fumes, and it cuts my yard in no time and gets it short and very clean looking. I’m keeping my reel mower for when the temperature drops some and I want a little workout, but the electric mower won my heart, for sure.
