My cousin’s wife is adopted from Korea. For Christmas, my cousin bought her this kit and a few weeks ago the company contacted her and said she was a match for a possible sibling. She just found out she has a biological sister who has been living 30 minutes away from her for the past 10 years!! They’ve been inseparable ever since.
I have 2 adopted daughters – one has an adopted birth mother and zero medical information. This was worth the money for the additional information. I have complete control over how they use the information. Since the girls are minors, their info is secure.
I’ve been really interested in getting this kit since I read there is a migraine gene. 99.999% sure I have it since I have migraines and I have so many relatives with them, but would be interesting to get tested.
I think this test is amazing! I’m mixed race so getting my results was exciting because I am so many different things. I’m also adopted and found my birth family on both sides!
Has anyone else tried this?? I’ve heard mixed things from others but I really want to try it!!
Me, my husband, father, sister and brother in law all have done this. I actually just bought one for my best friend for her birthday too! We love it and find it so interesting!
Ancestry does not allow you to link up to together(ie. husband, kids, parents) unless you join and pay an annual fee. 23 and Me is different and recommended
79.99 at Target with Lab fees included and get $10target gift card back!
That one doesn’t include the health portion which the amazon deal does.
Heather, this one includes health & is $150 on target.
Got it! Thank you!
Thanks! I got one for myself after my husband enjoyed his so much last year
Can this take the place of the paternity test? Will this say for sure if one is the father or not?
Absolutely not. It only shows you the percentages of the areas your ancestors may have migrated from. The raw DNA will present to you the sequence of you genetic code(AGCT) and what certain pairing are related to. My son has 18% Germanic DNA, but my husband and I do not have any.
Thank you, Corina. And, TIA to others who would want to chime in also.
My family did Ancestry DNA. Unless you pay whatever they charge per year to join, you can not link each other. 23 & Me is better and does not have a joining fee. My brother who is heavily in genealogy says “All the coo kids use 23 & Me. You are able to access way more in their data base. Keep in mind once you submit your saliva to be analyzed, that is your results and you can do with them what you wish. I highly recommend downloading the raw DNA to your computer for future use. You can then upload to which ever web site you choose to get more in depth information. Such as your per percentage of chances developing coronary heart disease, MS
or Alzheimers. REMEMBER your DNA never changes, it is the science to analyze it that is constantly improving.
On Target website the 23andme with health kit is $99 if you have a red card its 5% off plus a $10 gift card…
I’m not receiving an extra 5% off with my red card, is there a code or something I need to put in?
It came off with my Red card upon checking out.
I did it on my laptop. Maybe try a different browser?
Target states 49 dollars today
