Would You Pay an Extra $30 for this New Step2 Unicorn Coaster?
Hop on over to Amazon or Target.com where you can snag this Step2 Unicorn Up & Down Roller Coaster for just $129.99 shipped!
It appears that the only difference between this version and the standard version (which is over $30 cheaper) is that it has a unicorn coaster car rather than a regular car. You can decide if you think the unicorn is worth the extra $30!
This 3-piece set features a 10-foot long roller coaster ride on track, two non-slip steps that lock securely into the riding track for access from both sides, and a unicorn riding car that has a high back, handrail, and footrests! Assemble the track by just snapping the pieces together – no tools required! NICE!
In addition, Amazon has this cute Step2 Unicorn Rocking Horse for just $59.99 shipped! This rocking horse features soft, colorful hair, a “golden” horn, and mystical sounds! It also has a contoured seat and easy-grip handles to provide your child with a secure ride.

It’s actually only a $10 difference one the sale is over. Regular price is $129. This happens frequently where one of a color, flavor or style is on sale and the newer one is not. $10 extra for a light-up and sound feature seems very reasonable. It makes me wonder if the regular price of $129 is actually too expensive and that it should be adjusted to account for the lack of bells and whistles.
It should also be noted that even with the sale it is actually more expensive than the Thomas the Train Step2 Coaster which is only $89 shipped from and sold by amazon….. So that really changes the question, again the same item with a well-loved character but cheaper than both items as a regular price not a sale price.
I have to be really honest here. I’m over unicorns. It’s a fad I will be glad to see return to the 1980’s where it came from…just sayin! Ha! (Please…this is in good humor, as not to offend anyone!). To answer the post, no, I wouldn’t pay the extra for the mythical creature.
Hahaha, me too! 🙂
Yes! And baby shark 🤢
Hahahhahaha
Maybe it’s because I loved unicorns back in the 80s/90s but personally I don’t mind the unicorn/mermaid (and sloth, narwhal, llama variations) at all. I’d rather my 10yo daughter and her friends be into cute magical creatures than things like Bratz, Monster High or the new tall teenage LOL dolls. I am more than ready to see the poo trend end though.
Ugh to both!
No. Not for any of them. It’s too large a toy, too much clutter for the house, and they have the Thomas one at toddler time at our local recreation center to play with twice a week for free (no membership required for toddler time). 🙂
That’s so cool that they have one at your free toddler time, Rae! Thanks for taking a moment to comment with your thoughts on this!
My dauaghter had a similar toy when she was little. It was one of her favorites. Hours of fun and she could do it independently which she enjoyed being able to do. We did not have the unicorn one. We had the step2 one.
We had one of these for my 3 kids and it was awesome. Lasted for years as most of the step2 products do. However I scoured craigslist & bought one used as I refused to pay $129 for it. Which is their standard price. Watch for real sales on it o/w get one used.
No way.
