Johnson’s Baby Powder Has Been Recalled
Heads up if you have little ones!
Johnson & Johnson just announced that it is initiating a voluntary recall of a single lot of its Johnson’s Baby Powder Lot #22318RB in response to a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) test indicating the presence of sub-trace levels of chrysotile asbestos contamination.
In parallel, Johnson & Johnson has immediately initiated a rigorous, thorough investigation into this matter, and is working with the FDA to determine the integrity of the tested sample, and the validity of the test results. Click here for more information.
If you own a bottle of Johnson’s Baby Powder Lot #22318RB, discontinue use of the product. For refund information, contact the Johnson & Johnson Consumer Care Center or by calling +1 (866) 565-2229.

Coconut oil might work for you! (If you’re talking about using it for soothing the diaper area)
Can you please email me cavs1986@ hotmail . Com Thanks so much
I’ve been using cornstarch on both my little babies. It’s what my mom said they used in her home land for their kids. Works wonders.
Not sure about everyone else but I refuse to buy anything from this company for my newborn. There are so many other companies that sell baby products. They definitely can’t be trusted It’s a shame.
Agreed! I’d rather use more natural products anyways. Just because something is marketed for or labeled as “baby” doesn’t always mean it’s safe.
Their lab tests that showed no asbestos were deemed tainted and skewed so NO I will never endorse or purchase another product from this company. Disgusting!! I watched a documentary on it and I couldn’t believe it.
Aveeno is also owned by Johnson & Johnson. It’s hard to know what products to trust for our babies anymore.
I didn’t know that they owned Aveeno. What baby product brand do you use that you feel is more natural?
try Burt’s Bees
I have been using powder since my baby was a newborn, what else am i suppose to use?
I’ve used potatoe starch on all
my 3 babies and it works amazing. For light rashes I just sprinkle some where needed. For rashes that don’t for away for a while or when baby is going thru lots of poops in a day I discovered an amazing formula by accident: apply diaper cream to the rash (I’ve used aquaphor) and than sprinkle potatoe starch on top. I’m sure this would work with a natural diaper cream as well. It literally heals overnight, like steroid power. So grateful for the discovery. Saved me many trips to the doc when baby was having the tummy flu and baby’s bum was so red. Potatoe starch sold online, I’ve found it at winco, in the bulk section:)
My mom warned me about this, thankfully before we had our first, and she recommended using cornstarch powder. Johnson’s actually makes one but you have to read the label carefully. It looks exactly the same as this powder but says cornstarch on the front. The lawsuits and issues with the talc powder are not new, unfortunately.
I’m on my third baby and ever since my first was born even the hospital and pediatrician told us to never use baby powder on babies.. that was over five years ago
This is so sad, but it’s just more about money to these large firm corporations:/ What you can do for the brands you buy, just researched and google who owns them. Then, you will know. I was quite surprised even a couple organic brands that were owned by large firms. Just be informed! Hope this helps. I have a copy of the most popular brands and who they are owned under. I can fwd to anyone interested, just let me know your email:)
Oh yes please! I would love to have a copy of the list!!! Nitacherii@gmail.com
Thank you
I never used baby powder on my kids when they were babies. I mean, I think babies get diaper rash even while using baby powder, so what is the point of using it?
I’m an old lady, but raised 2 of my own & 4 grandchildren. My girls pediatrician told me to never use any kind of powder or corn starch when my daughter had a severe rash that wouldn’t clear up. He said all they do is create something for a fungus to attach to & make it worse. Used A & D ointment & a coat of Vaseline over that to seal it. Never had a rash again.
Baby powder is not recommended to use on babies due to them breathing in the powder and having a reaction in their airway.
How about using Arrowroot powder instead?
The information helpful for us who are sensitive to her / his baby’s. Thank you for you information.
You’re very welcome!
