Meet Astro, Amazon’s New Home Robot + a BUNCH of New Alexa-Enabled Devices

Alexa is fully prepared to take over your home with her vast army of new hardware!

Amazon has unleashed a fleet of new Alexa-enabled gadgets just in time for the upcoming holiday shopping season, and there’s a pile of new tech in this lineup. Coming soon from Amazon are a home robot assistant, the company’s first smart thermostat, a wall-mounted Echo show, a fitness tracker, a security drone, and more!

While most of these new devices are not available to buy yet, you can expect to see them go live before the holidays. Many of them are available by invitation only, but you can enter your email to receive an invitation if you’re interested in being one of the first to get your hands on some cool new tech.

Amazon robot

Amazon Astro – $999.99 (by invitation only)

Astro is Amazon’s household robot for home monitoring. When you’re away, use the Astro app to see a live view of your home, check in on specific rooms and viewpoints, and get activity alerts. When you’re home, Astro can follow you from room to room playing your favorite music, podcasts, or shows, and find you to deliver calls, reminders, alarms, and timers set with Alexa.

Reimagine how your family stays organized and entertained with a personalized smart display that helps to keep everyone on track and in sync. You can mount the Echo Show 15 on a wall or display it with a compatible stand (sold separately) in portrait or landscape orientation.

Amazon Glow is an all-new interactive projector and video-calling device designed to build family connections by transforming the way children bond with remote loved ones. It fuses projection, video, and sensing technologies to create a virtual experience that feels like being together in person, no matter how far away you are.

This fitness tracker does so much more than just counting steps. Use it to access key health metrics like heart rate, activity points, sleep score, and blood oxygen levels on the Halo View color touch display. Link the Amazon Smart Thermostat to an Alexa-enabled device at home, and you can control your HVAC system with your voice. Not at home? Use the Alexa app to manually adjust the temperature or set a schedule when you’re on the go.


Blink Video Doorbell

Blink Video Doorbell – $49.99 (preorder now for release-date shipping on October 21)

This video doorbell uses Alexa so you can answer your door no matter where you are. Choose to save and share clips in the cloud with a free 30-day trial of the Blink Subscription Plan, or locally with the Sync Module 2 and USB drive (sold separately). Designed for every home, this doorbell camera can go wire-free or connect to your existing wiring to sound your in-home chime.


Amazon Fire Smart TV

Amazon Fire TV 65″ Omni Series 4K UHD Smart TV – $829.99 (preorder now for release-date shipping on October 27)

This is Amazon’s first hands-free smart TV, so you can put down the remote and control your TV with just your voice and the power of Alexa. This smart TV also brings 4K Ultra HD entertainment, brilliant picture quality, Dolby Digital Plus, and access to more than 1 million movies and TV episodes into your living room.

Ring Always Home Cam – $249.99 (by invitation only)

The Ring Always Home Cam is the world’s first flying indoor security camera for your home. Create preset flight paths to choose where your Cam will fly when you’re not at home. If your Ring Alarm contact sensors or motion detectors are triggered, the Always Home Cam can automatically do a fly-by to see what’s happening.

OK, so this one isn’t exactly a device, but we can’t wait to use it! Hey Disney! is the all-new voice assistant for Alexa, featuring some of Disney’s most beloved characters. You’ll be able to get the weather with Mickey, joke around with C-3PO and R2-D2, go on adventures with Dory or Olaf, listen to your favorite Disney stories, plus a lot more.

This feature will be available next year for guests at Walt Disney World hotel rooms and for purchase as an add-on for anyone with an Echo device.
