Buying Christmas gifts early is always a great idea, and with Amazon Layaway, you get to score great buys now without having to pay them off instantly.
Many other layaway programs aren’t available until closer to the holidays, which can make it hard to save money by shopping the deals as they happen throughout the year. One of the most unique features of Amazon Layaway is that it’s available year-round!

How does Amazon Layaway work?
Amazon Layaway makes it easier to pay as you go without any fees or credit checks. You’ll make a payment every two weeks for five total payments including your initial 20% payment, and your item will ship after your final payment. Plus, there are no fees or penalties for early pay-off if you want your item sooner!

Is Amazon Layaway really free?
Yes! There are no interest charges, late fees, sign-up fees, service charges, cancelation fees, or restocking fees for using this payment option. See more in the FAQs here.
How much will I pay today?
When you shop with Amazon Layaway, you’ll pay just 20% of the listed price on the day you place your order. Opting for layaway will lock in that price for good – including any available discounts! Once you put an item on layaway, the price will not change- how awesome is that?!
IMPORTANT NOTES: Your remaining 4 payments will be automatically charged to the original payment method every 2 weeks. Thereafter, each payment will be 20% of the original price with taxes and shipping fees (if any) added to your final payment.
You can manage your layaway plan, update your payment method, pay early, and more through your Amazon account. Note that all layaway orders must be paid in full within the 8-week layaway period.
Are there any drawbacks to using Amazon Layaway?
Besides having to wait for your item, we have yet to find any drawbacks to using this program. It’s beneficial, doesn’t cost you any money, and you get what you want without having to immediately pay the full amount. It sounds like a great Christmas budgeting hack!

Need to cancel or can’t make your Amazon Layaway payment?
There are no fees for overdue or canceled layaway plans. If you miss a payment, Amazon will send you an email to inform you that the payment is late. Once your layaway balance is overdue, you will not be able to open any additional layaway plans with Amazon.
If you pay your outstanding balance prior to your next scheduled payment, you can make additional purchases on layaway.
