These picks really stick out among the rest! 🙌🏼
We’ve tested and sourced the best nipple covers on the market. Shop our top picks for strapless & backless tops, weddings, or extra “oomph”.
What are nipple covers and what are they used for?
You may have also heard the term “pasties” which have the same concept as nipple covers. Both typically have an adhesive which stick to skin and are used to help conceal nipples. They’re ideal when wearing sheer tops, tight clothing, or even dresses that don’t allow for a bra.
Here’s how to clean nipple covers.
Cleaning most nipple covers is simple. Simply wash under warm water with a gentle soap and let air dry. Store in original box or packaging to preserve the adhesive. Of course, double check the care instructions depending on the nipple covers you own.
Wondering where to buy nipple covers? These are the 6 best options for nippy covers on the market for every occasion:
1. CAKES nipple covers are innovative and don’t use an adhesive to give you a seamless look under tops.
- CAKES Itty Bitty (sizes AA-A) – $30
- CAKES OG (sizes B-DD) – $30
- CAKES (+) (sizes DDD+) – $30
Right off the bat, we love Cakes because of how innovative they are compared to traditional pasties on the market. They feature a “grippy” design rather than a sticky adhesive and use your body’s natural body heat to stay in place. This unique feature makes them the perfect option for women who have reservations about questionable or potentially irritating adhesives.
Even more impressive, CAKES uses medical grade silicone and undergoes extensive skin safety and toxicity testing to ensure the best and safest product possible.
CAKES also offers three different sizes suitable from A cup to DDD+ to give any size breasts a totally seamless coverage. We also love that they’re available in three different skin tones – honey, caramel, and cocoa so you can wear those favorite sheer tops to your heart’s content. 😉
As you can see in the photo above, the CAKES model shows just how easily they stay on skin and her bodysuit shows a totally seamless coverage too. It’s just the icing on top of the cake! 🤩
What’s more, although CAKES are super gentle, they’re also sturdy enough to hide imperfections. One reviewer on CAKES.com shared her testimony on how CAKES helped smooth her breasts after having cancer.
“I had breast cancer and reconstruction, my scars and imperfections often show through light colored fitted shirts but the cakes smoothed me out perfectly.” – Kristie
2. Nippies Skin covers are a Hip team favorite from Amazon and are great with any bodysuit or dress.
Nippies Nipple Covers – $26.50
*Available in A-C cups or D+ cups.
These seamless nippies covers are quickly becoming a team favorite and I, myself, have even jumped on the bandwagon. They’re a traditional “sticky” nipple cover, but they’re formulated with medical grade silicone so they’re still a safe choice. I’m someone with sensitive skin and can attest to just how gentle they claim to be on and they’re painless to peel off. Even better, there’s never any residual reside on my skin and they covers have been endlessly reusable after many uses and counting.
Nippies are designed with super thin edges so you get a seamless look under any type of clothing. They’re also water resistant so you can wear them while working up a sweat or being in water. It just so happens I jumped in a pool while wearing these and they stayed completely put so I can attest to that too!
My only recommendation is to order your true size. When I ordered these the larger size wasn’t available for Prime shipping and I was in a pinch so I got the smaller size despite being a DDD. I was able to make them work, but think they could stand to be a little bigger.
Here are three recent outfits I’ve worn with the same pair of Nippies Skin covers!
Here’s what some of my other Hip sidekicks have said about their Nippies Skin:
“I was disappointed with another brand of nipple covers as they fell off during an event and I gave these a try after Collin raved about them. Happy to say I love them just as much too! For me, they work best on dry, clean skin, and in an outfit that is more fitted on the top. I wore them one with a loose top on a very hot day, and the sweat caused them to slightly shift. I’m so happy with them otherwise and have worn them on countless occasions. They’re super easy to clean too with just some soap and water.” – Emily, Hip sidekick
“Nippies are seriously the best bra alternative I’ve tried and I feel like I’ve tried so many! I wear them almost every day! I hate wearing bras especially with the Texas heat and I even wear them with swimsuits sometimes if I hate the padding! I’ve had my pair since last summer and they still work great.” – Monica, Hip sidekick
3. This sticky bra will give you the added oomph you’ve been looking for and just the right amount of cleavage too.
Niidor Adhesive Bra – $19.19 (regularly $23.99)
Whether you dread wearing regular bras or you want to rock a cute backless dress while still getting some oomph, this sticky strapless bra will quickly become a wardrobe essential. When it comes to sticky bras, not all designs are created equal as you likely already know if you’ve ever worn one. The Niidor strapless bra will keep you from every experiencing the awkwardness of a “sticky” bra sliding off your tata’s while out in public. We know because a few of our team members own them and love them!
The clasp in the center also always you to have as much or as little cleavage as you may be looking for. More importantly, they’re thoughtfully designed to give you a natural-looking silhouette. (Which is not something all sticky bra brands can say).
As a bonus, this invisible bra also comes with flower-shaped nipple covers. However, being a larger chested women, I will say I didn’t find them to be very seamless with sheer tops so I’d only recommend them to women with smaller chests or with thicker clothing where pasties aren’t very noticable.
“I just bought another one of these bras after my last one lasted me two years! And that was with wearing it a couple times a week in the summertime!” – Angie, Hip sidekick
4. Target makes the best pasties for the darkest skin complexions.
This is the pair of nipple covers to buy if you’re looking for a pair with the deepest color possible. The Gatherall brand’s lightest color is a darker cream color and they get as dark as their “noir” as shown above to perfectly blend with rich skin tones or perfectly match your favorite sports bra.
Similar to our team favorite Amazon pair, these are formulated with a seamless tapered edge, velvety soft silicone, and they’re also waterproof and sweatproof.
“Tapered edges are so thin so you can’t detect it even if you’re wearing the clingiest or smoothest fabric! Love that it is opaque and yet it is silicone.” – Lyn
5. This boob tape is perfect to use before your next wedding weekend.
Risque Body Tape Strips – $13.56
Boob tape is likely something you’ve heard of if you’re in an upcoming wedding or maybe you’re getting married yourself! This product is unlike traditional nipple covers and can be cut and taped on your body to customize your needs. They can lift your girls providing the support you need and keep your dress in perfect place – all while covering your nipples too. 😉
Although they’re a different alternative to covering your nipples, you won’t compromise on functionality since they’re also sweatproof and waterproof.
As a bonus, this pack of 6 strips also comes with a free pair of nipples covers too. Even better, with every purchase, Risque donates 10% of net profits to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. ❤️
“I’m glad I chose these because it was my first time using boob tape. I was a bridesmaid at my cousin’s wedding last week and we had to go braless because of the dress she chose. We were told to get boob tape. The other bridesmaids went with another brand (or no bra at all) and they complained the tape they bought didn’t stick for the entire wedding. This tape was on me the whole time. I wore these boob tapes to the gym the next day because I hate wearing bras, and they stayed on even though I was sweaty. I would recommend these tapes to every woman and man and I have very sensitive skin and they gave me no adverse reaction.”

“BOOMBA Inserts are latex-free and our adhesive is made of 100% silicone gel without any additional additives or pigments. They’re certified safe for contact with the skin and for their intended use. BPA and BPS are not in this type of products. There should be nothing in our adhesive that would trigger an allergic reaction, but our products are not intended for individuals who have sensitive skin or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.”
Boomba and boob tape were not originally on my educational list today? 🙂 Learn something new every day!
Very true! 🤗 So happy this post was informative, Rachel! 🥰
Where were these in the 70’s when halter tops were in fashion? My solution as a newly “blossoming” teen was bandaids!
LOL! That sounds really painful, Peaches! You may just have to get those halter tops back out just to give one of these a try. 😆
