Just like the Summer Olympics and the U.S. Presidential elections, Leap Day comes around only once every four years. Since 2028 is a leap year, February 2028 will have an extra day in it! Leap Day 2028 will be on Tuesday, February 29th, and many restaurants and retailers plan to celebrate this extra day by offering freebies, contests, and other fun offers.
Below, you’ll find a roundup of all the best Leap Day deals we found in 2024.
What is a Leap Year and when is Leap Day?
As a child, you probably learned that a year is 365 days, but the Earth takes closer to 365.25 days to make a full trip around the sun. So after four years, those extra quarter-days add up to one whole extra day. This day is added to the end of February to help keep Earth’s dates synchronized with the planet’s movements around the Sun.
Since the Earth’s journey is precisely 365.24219 days, one year is about 11 minutes less than 365.25 days. To make up that difference, we skip Leap Day during “century” years (ending in -00) unless they are also divisible by 400. We skipped Leap Day in 1700, 1800, and 1900, but we did observe it in 2000. The next skipped leap year will occur in 2100, so be sure to take advantage of Leap Day deals every chance you get! 😉

On Leap Day 2024, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse had Pizookies for just $2.29 with a minimum food purchase of $10. Note this offer was valid for dine-in only and could not be used toward the Pizookie Trio or Pizookie Party Platter or any other offers or discounts.
Free guacamole at Chipotle
On February 29th, 2024, Chipotle Rewards members could score a free order of guac with promo code EXTRA24 at checkout online or in the Chipotle app.
Chipotle also ran an “Extra Day, Extra Codes” challenge, which awarded 29 of its Instagram followers free guac for a year.
Free all-day jump pass at Chuck E. Cheese
On Leap Day 2024, Chuck E. Cheese gave away free All-Day Jump Passes to children under 52 inches tall at locations with Trampoline Zones. The one-day coupon was posted on ChuckECheese.com.
Great Wolf Lodge for $29/person

On Leap Day 2024, Legal Sea Foods offered pairs of 1 lb. Gulf of Maine steamed lobsters for just $29.
