Paid survey apps promise easy money for sharing your opinions, but so many of them fail to live up to the hype. Low pay, high cash-out barriers, and annoying account issues often make it feel like these apps aren’t worth the effort.

I’ve tested a LOT of survey platforms for Hip2Save, but most of them didn’t earn my recommendation due to their high frustration-to-payoff ratio. I’m always searching for other opportunities, though, and LifePoints recently caught my attention.

The fact that it has over 29,000 five-star TrustPilot ratings definitely piqued my interest, so I was eager to give this platform a try to see if the juice would be worth the squeeze.

Here’s my honest review of LifePoints after testing their paid survey app:

LifePoints registration was free and easy. It only took me a few minutes, and I didn’t have to share too much personal information – just basic demographics.

The app interface was really clean and easy to use, too. As soon as I finished the registration process, I could easily see the available surveys, the estimated time to take each one, and the points I would earn upon completion.

With many other survey companies, I would often answer extensive personal questions just to find out that I didn’t qualify for any points. But I was pleasantly surprised that I never felt like my time was being wasted with LifePoints, and the surveys were interesting. There was just one survey that disqualified me part of the way through, and I had only invested a couple of minutes of my time at that point.

What you’re really wondering: How easy it is to earn & cash out on LifePoints?

  • LifePoints offers cash, gift cards (including Amazon, Walmart, Target & Starbucks), and charity donations
  • Redemption threshold is $5, so between 550 and 575 points, depending on the reward selected
  • Points can expire after 90 days of inactivity, so redeem or complete surveys regularly

I opted for the PayPal option and received my $5 reward within four days (it can take up to five). I spent an average of 20 minutes/day taking surveys, and was able to cash out within six days, which I thought was awesome!

Overall, I am really enjoying the app and would recommend it to someone looking for a slow and steady way to earn a little extra spending money.

Hi Jenna, I have also tried many different survey question site/apps. Some start off really good, then after a while the payouts become devalued. One that I have used for several years that was really good was Pinecone. Every survey once was worth 300 pts ($3) and they typically took 15-30 minutes each, which seemed to be a fair tradeoff of my spare time. Recently, they started offering fewer points per survey, some just 50, 75, 100, etc. (very few left for full 300). On top of that, many of the survey “qualifiers” would take me through 5-10 minutes worth of questions that felt like a survey itself, only to get disqualified after that… grrrr. They already have my full checklist of age, sex, interests, hobbies, income, etc. in my profile, so they should know which surveys I’m a good target for, or not. Then, the initial survey questions are still often these same (age, sex, & income questions) that waste my time.

Same here, I quit Pinecone because of that, used to love it.

Same here. Very frustrating to start a survey, answer a bunch of questions, c then get bored out of the system. They should know from the profiles we fill out to be part of pinecone of we aren’t a match. Just trying to get enough points to cash out then I’m done with them, too.

Thanks so much for sharing about your experience with surveys over the years. Sorry to hear that many haven’t worked out as beneficial as when started. ❤️

All of the websites I started using years ago have gotten worse. I think I make $30 a month using Life points. Once you take surveys consistently, you figure out which surveys not to take by the URL or topic. I mostly use Erewards, LifePoints, SAGO, and EveryoneSeez.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Good to know which you’ve been using and how much you’ve been able to earn. 🙌 Thanks for the tips and feedback!

The only one I’ve consistently earned money with is Swagbucks. I earn about $3 a day spending about an hour/hour and a half taking surveys.

So, I signed up and earned enough points pretty quickly to cash out for a $5 gift card. The concern I have now is the system is forcing me to link my PayPal account (not the cash out I’m even requesting). I went through the steps to link but it’s not showing. Unfortunately, my PayPal account uses a different email and I’m wondering if that’s why. Anyone else experience this and if so how did you resolve?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

So sorry for that confusion, Sue P. Have you been able to reach out to customer service to look into that for you? Hoping they might be able to help! 🤞❤️

      • Sue P

Reaching out to them now. I’ll keep you posted. Did you have to link a paypal account?

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

It looks like you only need to do that if you select the Paypal option. Here are the details I found if more helpful! “The PayPal link is only required if you select PayPal as your cash-out option. For any other rewards, you just select your preferred option in the Rewards section, and LifePoints will process it without asking for PayPal info.”

  6. Sue P

Yes, had to link Paypal account, no way around it even though only redeeming for egift cards. On the upside, it was a pretty quick process, but I do not like that to have a verified account I have to link my bank account.

Thank you for the update on how it worked for you!
