Thank you so much for posting this! I have been wanting to do some kind of donation in our city since last year and this just reminded me that it is the right time to do so. I browse your page like 10+ times a day. God bless you all at the Hip2Save team!!! ❤️
Aww, you’re so welcome! ❤️ Love that this deal inspired you to give back – what an amazing thing to do for your community! 🥰 Thank you for being such an incredible supporter – 10+ times a day is so sweet! 🙌 We appreciate you!
I have been trying to figure out what to get my great niece and nephews (they are young kids) and these came in handy to add to their Christmas gifts! 🎄 Thank you!
Awesome! You’re so welcome, Theresa!
I strongly encourage everyone NOT to donate these blankets. They’re dirt cheap because they’re so thin – they aren’t warm, and they won’t stand up to the household use of a careful adult. They aren’t appropriate for the homeless and certainly not animal shelters. It’s not a blessing to give someone something they’ll have to find a way to dispose of in a few weeks. Walmart does have some great, cheap, blankets! But these aren’t them.
Thanks so much for your honest thoughts and review on these, L.❤️❤️ We sure appreciate it. 🤗
We use these in our house, car, and trailer. They’ve been washed multiple times and hold up just fine. No, they’re not luxurious, but they’re suitable as throws and easy to store. Speaking of homeless, I once offered to give a ride to a woman that was walking in the pouring rain – I knew she was headed to the nearby homeless camp. She politely declined but asked if I had a spare blanket. She seemed happy when I offered her one of these from the trunk of my car 🤷🏼♀️ I’ve no idea why they wouldn’t be good enough for an animal shelter. The local shelters here will even take your holey towels.
I’m really glad you’ve had such a great experience with them! They lasted through two washings in our home, and they were only used on the couch by two adults a couple of times. After they started falling apart the animal shelter here said they wouldn’t take them. The guy said unlike towels the blankets were so thin the animals would just shred them. Maybe something specific to that shelter?
This was all in 2022, if I may ask, when did you get yours? Maybe quality has changed one way or the other.
I think of these as semi-disposable — they’re thin and low-quality, but that’s okay for dogs. I’ve fostered a lot of medical-needs large-breed dogs and also helped to gently crossover 3 beloved personal dogs who lived super-long lives, with incontinence and/or seizures at the end. We kept a big wicker “dog basket” of rolled up, cheap WM Mainstay and Kohls fleece throws — all purchased on sale, of different patterns (including some holiday purchased on clearance). We use the fleeces on top of disposable generic “Depend-type” pads over a dog bed, and then we wash the fleeces nightly when there is “mess” on them. When the mess is too much or the blankets are ragged or full of holes, we toss them. If a dog nibbles a hole, who cares when they cost $2-3? Now that I have a younger dog, I travel with a fleece throw in my backseat–when we stay at a pet-friendly hotel, a clean fleece comes inside to cover the furniture so that my dog’s fur and paws stay on the blanket. They’re very convenient to have around — fine as donations to shelters, but I wouldn’t give them as gifts to family.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these, Maggie! ❤️ Such a smart idea to keep these around for pups, especially with fosters or for travel. 🐾
We love these donations at the humane society! I know someone above said don’t donate these; they are cheap. They are! And we need them so much.
Thanks a bunch for sharing this feedback, Hunterwoody! Good to know these are a needed donation item at the humane society! ❤️🐾
