Bought this ahead of a fly-fishing trip in West Virginia. Great trip, but weather through everything from relatively warm sun to bursts of gusty winds, rain and even a few flurries. Properly layered underneath, this jacket delivered the warmth, water protection and functionality needed to never be bothered by the elements while we landed some beautiful trout.
I generally get 40-60 days on the water a year so I need a single good jacket year-round. Most days are in colder weather. I currently have a name-brand jacket that is wonderful. The problem is when layering it’s just too warm (for me), and a tad bulky. After trying the Orvis ultra light I could not believe the difference between jackets. It was magical.
But how do you really pick between two good jackets? Simple. Quick trip to Taco Bell sorted this out. My old jacket caught every piece of cheese and lettuce from those loco tacos but not the Orvis ultralight! Nuff said. Now I fish super comfy and don’t need a power wash after fourth meal. This is a winner Orvis : ) Keep up the good work!
