Amazon Prime Video Introducing Ads in Early 2024 (Will You Pay Extra to Remove Them?)
An Amazon Prime Video Subscription gives you access to some of the hottest shows and movies! Here’s the latest news!
Your uninterrupted Amazon Prime Video streaming may have a few small interruptions.
Starting in early 2024 Amazon Prime Video will be including limited advertisements during the shows that you stream. If you don’t want to see them, you’ll be able to choose the ad-free option for $2.99 a month.
A representative from Amazon Prime Video explained that this decision was to ensure the same great programming for the future and that these advertisements would be introduced in the U.S., U.K., Germany, and Canada in early 2024, followed by France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Australia later in the year.
There will be no changes to the current membership price and Prime members will receive an email several weeks before the ads are introduced as well as info about the ad-free option of $2.99 per month.

Our team is loving these old and new favorites that are available on Amazon Prime. Best of all, these shows are all included with your Prime Video subscription and there is no additional cost to watch them!
“I’m a little late to the game on this one, but I started watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and it’s so fun! It’s definitely not one to watch when the kids are anywhere near you, but it follows Midge Maisel as she becomes a successful comic in the 1950s! It will definitely make you laugh (and sometimes blush 😂) and you can’t help but love all the characters!” – Jenna
“I’ve been rewatching The Wilds (such a good Prime Original show for those who loved the early seasons of Lost), unfortunately, it was canceled during the pandemic, but it is AMAZING. The plot twists are next-level.” – Madison
“I LOVED The Summer I Turned Pretty! ❤️ #teamjeremiah” – Jenna
“We just watched LuLaRich, the documentary about the Lu La Roe craze. It was so fascinating but also heartbreaking for those who were scammed in it and lost so much. The owners of it are so interesting on camera and I didn’t realize that the company was still running today!” – Emily
“My wife and I started watching Mad Men! For those who aren’t aware: It’s a somber and realistic take on the advertising world in the mid-20th Century, but SO well acted and incredibly fascinating.” – Shane
“The first season of Upload was so good! It takes place in a futuristic world where those who die can upload their consciousness to a picturesque afterlife. The problem is that only the rich can afford the best version. After suddenly dying, the main character is uploaded by his wealthy girlfriend and soon discovers his death may not be an accident after all. It’s part love story and part mystery. I highly recommend it!” – Kara

Me personally I don’t mind the commercials I do the same thing with Hulu so it gives me a break to go run and get a snack or something I’m not paying extra to not have commercials
I like a snack break too, Katie! 😋😆 Thanks for sharing with us!
I’m old enough to remember only network tv with lots of commercials, so it’s not a deal breaker for me. If anything, it’s good that we can pause the commercials, if our snack or bathroom break is going to take longer, LOL
Just cancel Prime. I promise you will not miss it after a few weeks. These cuts in member benefits just keep happening and they think we are just fine with it. No Prime means no impulse buys on the deals that pop up that you really did not need anyway. It saves us money every day.
Corporate greed plagues America everywhere. Amazon sees people willing to pay for streaming subscriptions, of course they jump at the chance of getting more money. We as consumer must be smart.
Ugh, just another example of milking the consumer for more money. Is there no end to corporate greed. Rhetorical question of course.
What a disappointment, but I guess, I’ll watch commercials!
I canceled Prime a couple of months ago – no regrets. Prime Video and Prime Music has gone downhill.
I agree, prime music is awful now. The membership price just keeps going up and the benefits keep going down.
Didnt their last increase in membership state that it was because of Prime Video …? So now they are making $$ on ads or make us pay to skip it? I will not cancel but will not pay for no ads. Try and see if ads blockers will help. I already cancelled Netflix…i dont even miss it.
I don’t care about the commercials tbh. I use them to go to the bathroom and whatnot.
Commercials is when I work on my Wordle or Octordle!
We had commercials with cable but payed a triple digit every month. Now, we have a few of these streaming services for under $40 a month. I feel like even w commercials, it’s still a money saver. However, Prime is not our favorite platform. We’re looking to try out the Premier movie screening through Prime and see if that’s any good at the theater though.
I’ve been binge-watching old sitcoms from the 60’s 70’s and 80’s so I’ll probably watch what I can until my Prime runs out and just not renew. Most of the “benefits” of Prime are either not used or not available for my household.
I never pay to skip ads – they are a great reason\reminder to get up and move, get a snack, do some cleaning, whatever. So I don’t watch them anyway. But they just raised Prime rates and I was waivering on whether to get rid of it them. This may be the final reason that causes to end my subscription.
