Super easy to mount…The light and the solar panel are the same size and the tilt brackets that mount them are identical. Just 2 screws to mount each one and you’re done! The cable between the light and the solar panel is long enough that you can mount the light just about anywhere – I mounted mine above a sliding glass door at the back of my house which faces west. It was easy to orient the solar panel to face south by simply mounting it to the eave on the corner of my house.So how well does it work? Motion detection is good to about 30 feet in my walkabout tests. I use mode 3 to achieve lighting (and a visual alert) for any walking or moving thing around the back of my house. This light is bright enough that I can see my fence and property line (about 150′ away) when standing in the doorway. The clearly viewable width of the lit area is about 120 degrees from left to right.
My wife and I really feel a lot more secure and we no longer leave our old mercury vapor street light on anymore to see what’s going on at night – so we’re saving electricity ever so slightly. The longevity of the battery is fairly impressive, the light is still functioning at full brightness right before sunrise when I trigger it by walking outside. I’m really happy with the performance and the option to mount the solar panel remotely. This is a very good design in my opinion.
