Target recently released these Brightroom 5-Gallon Buckets and have us all asking the question – why? 🤔

While you may find a cheaper bucket from other stores, this bright red option sports the iconic bullseye logo that you won’t find anywhere else. It also has reinforced rings around the top for added stability and a tapered design for easy storage and separation when you need multiple buckets for your projects.

Having an empty bucket around the house is perfect for storage, gardening, car washing, cleaning supplies, or even as a gift basket for someone who really loves Target.

It would make a really cute (and functional) way to wrap a gift for a Target obsessed friend!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      LOVE that idea, Stella! ๐Ÿ˜

You know how many 5 gallon buckets my husband has in the garage? Naw, weโ€™ll pass. ๐Ÿ˜‚

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

๐Ÿ˜† I can DEFINITELY relate to your comment, amyh. ๐Ÿ’—

I label and use the HD/Loweโ€™s buckets to store holiday decorations that hold sentimental value because they stand out among all of the Rubbermaid totes. My family knows if itโ€™s in a bucketโ€” Be extra careful! So for 50ยข extra I would totally save a stop and pick one up from Target if I needed one and was already going there.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Ooh! Another awesome way to use them! Thanks for the sharing with us, Morgan!

Chick-fil-A will give you the green pickle buckets for free and they come with a lid. They work great. Just ask them to save you one or too.

    • A.B.

Thatโ€™s great to know! We use the food grade ones for storing tallow and other fats that we render, and they freeze wonderfully! I typically ask at the bakery, for the icing buckets, but theyโ€™re not always available. Iโ€™ll try Chick-Fil-A next time, thank you so much! ๐Ÿ˜Š

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Wow! Cool tip! Thank you for the heads up on that! We’ll have to check it out! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’•

    • Sara

My husband brings home empty pickle buckets from his job to use for gardening, but now his car and the garage smell like pickles!

  8. Livlee

I wouldnโ€™t take one for free much less pay for one.

    • Wren

      Amen to that, ๐Ÿ’ฏ ๐Ÿ’ฏ

  9. Crystal

Sure, why not? They have a million uses, and itโ€™s the same price as the ones from Loweโ€™s, Home Depot, Harbor Freight, etc.

For my son with low vision due to his CVI, Red is his “Target” color. He can see it with and the contrast for outside Play activities and motor games. Using it for holding his toys, throwing bean bags, and everything else. Thank you for posting this! It will be an integral part of physical therapy and play!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

You’re SO very welcome, Ann! Glad these will work so well for him! ๐Ÿค—

  11. Pat Goff

No. I wouldn’t have any idea of what to use it for.

  12. Steve Lettre

Probably… Northern tool has got their’s on sale for $3.99.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh cool! Sounds like a great option too!

  13. Tammy Ewry

local bakeries usually have their buckets around $2.00

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

I never knew that! Thanks for commenting!

  14. Pretygirlygirl

Eye sore. You really gotta love target to want that ridiculous large logo. Maybe if I was having a nerf party and I needed targets for the kids to shoot.

  15. Brandy

Do they come with a lid? Thatโ€™s the only way Iโ€™d buy one

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

I don’t find a lid noted or pictured in the details. โค๏ธ

  16. maggie

Lids are key. he 5 g. buckets with lids make EXCELLENT dog waste containers outside — we line them with a trash bag, keep the pooper-scooper next to the bucket, and pick up daily.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Great use idea for buckets (with lids), maggie! Thanks for sharing how you use them – definitely sounds like a convenient and quick way to stay on top of cleaning up after pups outside! ๐Ÿพ

  17. Sue

I had to pipe in and say technically it will be .25 cheaper than the listed price if you use your Red Card, and you could save another dime by using a reusable bag too if you really wanted the Target one for some reason. I do like to use the big buckets during the hurricane for water storage for flushing my toilet in the bathroom without a tub. No power no water with a well. It is the perfect size to be able to carry water from the well’s holding tank too.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for mentioning the Circle Card discount, Sue. I’ve added those details to the post. Glad you’ve found this bucket size handy for hurricane season at your home. โค๏ธ

  18. Shani Stokes

Is this a real question?! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Bring me the buckets!!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

๐Ÿ˜† Thanks, Shani! Good to know you’d grab one!

  19. Lu

Another use for 5 gallon buckets – I use them to store my wrapping paper rolls, one for all my Christmas wrapping paper and another for all the other occasions. For this purpose, the buckets are far less expensive and hold many more rolls than the specially designed Rubbermaid storage containers. By standing the handle up in the middle and putting rolls on either side, you can still use the handle to easily carry it.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Great idea too, Lu! Thanks for sharing this helpful storage tip. I’ll have to keep this in mind for my wrapping paper supply. ๐Ÿ™Œ
