Honest question: why do people buy Stanley mugs? To follow a trend? They aren’t practical because you can’t throw them in a bag. If you knock them over, they leak water. When other people cough, their germs go all over your straw. Yes, there are straw covers but those are annoying. From the website: Stanley cups can be put in the dishwasher, but hand washing is recommended to preserve their finish. That is annoying that putting your Stanley in the dishwasher is questionable and hand washing is recommended. I love my reliable Nalgene, it is the best water bottle. It is a very low stress water bottle, and makes my life easier. I just can’t believe how many people follow the Stanley trend.
I’m the least coolest person walking the earth; I wear Walmart clothes that are a decade old and I’m always years behind any trend. But darn if I don’t love my pretty Stanley. It’s sturdy, sleek, and hefty. I never realized how much I actually enjoyed drinking water before I got one and it kept my water ice cold all day long in my Florida climate. I don’t have to keep topping it off or refreshing it – it’s always ready for me. Your Nalgene bottle doesn’t do that – there are trade offs for everything. Nalgene bottles aren’t exactly cheap, either, and it’s only as germ free as the environment you keep it in… My similarly honest question is why Stanley cups seem to grind so many people’s gears? No one’s losing their car or house over a $45 tumbler and if we peeked into everyone’s life, I bet we’d find a few quirky things they splurge on that might raise an eyebrow. We all have our guilty pleasures.
