A few Hip2Save team members use Walmart plus and they love it…

I first got this while on vacation with my 4 youngest kiddos. I was working during the vaca, so I needed a way to get supplies to the VRBO while I was working. I decided to sign up, and our order was delivered within an hour! It was so awesome! I didn’t have to Doordash during vacation which saved me so much money! And, I didn’t have to worry about making a grocery run during vacation. Another win! I ended up keeping it, and I can’t even tell you how much I love it. Scan & go is amazing – just scan your stuff as you add it to your cart in-store, then scan your phone at checkout to pay. It is SO easy. Plus, I love being able to order our essentials like milk, bread, etc, and it gets delivered to our doorstep. Delivery is free, and since I am a bit more rural, the tip I give to the driver is not much different than what I’d spend on gas!

I’ve had a Walmart Grocery Unlimited membership since March, and it automatically rolled over to Walmart+ when the program launched in September. I get groceries delivered once or twice a week, so my membership has paid for itself many times over. In fact, my Walmart+ account tracks how much time and money my membership is saving me, and I’ve saved $447 in grocery delivery fees and fuel discounts in about 8 months! Best of all, I haven’t had to go inside a Walmart since March, which has saved me an estimated 45 hours of time! I will DEFINITELY be renewing this membership when it expires! 🙌 – Jenna

Hip2Save readers love it too…

I purchased the service in July. Having groceries delivered to my door is worth every penny. With the new free shipping added on I Love it even more. I have amazon prime too but they don’t deliver groceries in my area.

If you aren’t a Sam’s Club Member you can use their pumps with this membership without having a Sam’s Club Membership! I love this perk because Sam’s Club is closer to me than the Walmart gas station.

  1. Wendy

How do I sign up for Walmart + for $49.00 when I go to the site it keeps saying free trial then $98.00 a year.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Wendy! Sorry for any issues. I still see the offer valid and listed as I click through the link above. Maybe try once more in a different browser or switch over to desktop view if using a mobile device. Hoping that does the trick! 🤞💞

    • Mom of 5

Sign up for free trial now and make an account. Then it should eventually it will send it to you or offer it to you. Remember it ends tomorrow.

    • Wendy

      Thanks for all the help!!

      • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

        You’re welcome! 🥰

    • Julie

Mine did the same thing but it said save $57 so I clicked it thinking that it would give me the discount and it didn’t . it charged me $98. Now I can’t fix it.

      • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Julie! You might try reaching out to customer service at 1-800-925-6278 to see if they can help with your membership. Hope this helps!

  2. Karbear52

Thanks, hipsterZ…!!! I clicked on the link and pay the $49 for the year…!!👍😝

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yay! You’re most welcome! Awesome that you could grab the offer! Happy shopping! 🎉🤗

  3. JeannieNY

With the grocery delivery service..is tipping the person expected?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hey there! You can tip if you’d like. I did find this in their FAQ – “You can tip your delivery driver through the app.” Hope that is helpful! 🤗

      • Stacy

I ended up canceling my servicr because after the driver unloaded all of my groceries and hauled them to my door, I felt like I had to give a good tip. Decided it was worth it to just set up Walmart pickup when I was out and about.

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for letting us know what you thought of it, Stacy! I do Walmart Grocery Pickup often! 💖

    • Becky

You absolutely should be tipping the delivery person. I do 10%

  4. Debby

I live in a rural area. If I have the plus membership, would I have non perishable food items mailed for free?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Debby! It appears so. You could always check with customer service to be sure.

    • rcb37404

Debby, I have the Walmart+ membership & yes, there are non perishables that will ship to your address for free & I’ve done that. The super easy way to tell is look up the item on the WM site, underneath it will show “pickup, delivery, shipping” or all three. That tells you which method of delivery is available to your address. Be sute to put in your zip code. And yes, there is no shipping minimum. HTH

      • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for sharing this helpful tip! We sure appreciate it! ❤️

  5. Sue

If I take the membership, do I still need to have $35 grocery to do curbside pickup?

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Sue! I was only seeing the $35 order minimum on delivery orders with Walmart+, so I checked with customer service on this for you. They said – “there is no minimum limit to do a curb side pick up and there is no fee for it you just have to place a pick up order and pick it up from the store.” Hope this is helpful! 🤗❤️

      • Sue

Thanks for checking with Walmart. That was very helpful.

        • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

          You’re welcome! 🤗❤️

  6. Sara

If I have Walmart +, can I order photo gifts without paying shipping? Like a single photo shipped to my house without paying shipping for example (a bad example, but you get the idea… just photos under $35). Thanks!

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Sara! We tested this with a photo ornament, priced around $10, and it’s charging $4 for delivery, so not free. Hoping this helps! 💕

  7. orie4reel

    Hi everyone @ Hip2Save,
Question, for the Walmart+ grocery app, or scan & pay (I think it’s called?) do I need to pay with a Walmart CC, or can I pay with a regular CC?
    TY in advance. 🤗

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey there! With Scan & Go, you can use any credit or debit card that you have saved in your Walmart account. Hope this helps! 💕

  8. Jeanne

I signed up for this today and even though I got the confirmation that I am now a Walmart + customer and everything in my account says it too, the fees for delivery and shipping on eligible purchases are still showing up. The customer service is no help at all. I feel so frustrated that I may have wasted $50. Hoping it magically fixes itself because the customer service couldn’t/wouldn’t do anything and kept saying I should have free shipping/delivery because I am a Walmart + customer… going in circles. Wonder if anyone else had this issue?

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

So sorry for the trouble, Jeanne! That does sound frustrating. It sounds like you may have already checked that your items are sold/shipped by Walmart and are eligible for the Walmart+ benefits. You might try logging out and back in to your Walmart+ account. Another suggestion is to go all the way through checkout, right before submitting your order, to see if delivery/shipping fees might drop off at that point. Hoping these tips are helpful! 🤞💕

      • Lu

Jeanne, I figured it out! Scroll down to where all the offers are located. Choose the “free shipping” offer. Once you choose a time for home delivery, you will see the $7.95 cost crossed out & replaced with $0!

    • Lu

Jeanne, I’m showing the same thing. No free shipping; only free with $35 order. I, too, hope I didn’t waste $50! 🙁

      • Jeanne

I just checked again, I had tried logging in and out, from my phone and computer, and now all of a sudden it’s working.
I hope its kicks In too!

        • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

YAY! Glad to hear that it’s working for you now, Jeanne! 🙌💗

  9. TP

Still waiting for my area to qualify… It’s been years. Come on!

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hoping their delivery is available soon in your area, TP! 🤞

  10. Wendy Jenkins

How do you know which items will ship and which will be delivered? I don’t want to sign up and then find out everything I’m interested in would be delivered and still need to meet a $35 minimum.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Wendy! Each product page should list the options for each particular item to be delivered. It will vary based on what’s being ordered and where you live. You might pick a few things you typically buy or are most interested in, and while logged into your regular Walmart account, check the delivery options on those pages to have a good idea of what will work in your area.

Liza, a Hip sidekick, shared with me – “We don’t have Walmart delivery (like same-day) here, but everything I order ships to my house in 2-3 days for free. For things that can’t be shipped, I do curbside pickup. There is a $35 minimum threshold for that, but not for shipping.”

      Hope this is helpful! 🤞❤️

    • LH

Hi Wendy! Just FYI… recently I noticed that almost none of the items that I used to ship are available to ship to me anymore… it’s either delivery $35 mininum or nothing…been that way for a while now…so even if you can ship some items, it may change so that you can no longer ship those things. I’ve been shipping some items for 1 year+ now I can not ship them any longer… just FYI

  11. Heather

Can you have grocery delivery sent to different addresses? Like for example can I order my groceries, send groceries to my elderly mother at a different address, have groceries delivered while on vacation, etc.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Heather! I just tested this and was able to change the address during checkout for the grocery delivery order. Something to keep in mind though is that not all locations offer the same-day delivery, so you could always test this by adding some items to your cart in your regular Walmart account and changing up the delivery address to see if it’s available for that location. Hoping this helps! 💕

    • Andrea

I order groceries and have them delivered to my daughter’s college house, all the time. No issues at all. This is much safer than her going shopping herself.

      • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing how it works for you, Andrea! Sure appreciate it! Love that you’re able to do that for your daughter! ❤️

  12. Lu

It is only showing a 6 month offer for the $49, NOT A YEAR. Has it changed since you posted the offer?

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

So sorry for the confusion, Lu! When I click through now, it’s still showing the “6 months free” at the top of the pop-up and “$49/1st year” once logged in to my Walmart account. You might try refreshing the page or clicking through the links in the post again. Hoping you’re able to grab this offer! 🤞

  13. Gina Gentry

I’ve been a plus member for over a year & I love it, especially not having to purchase a minimum amount for free shipping. Unfortunately, that’s pretty much the only feature I can use since the closest Walmart to me is about 20 minutes away, we’ll never qualify for delivery, door dash, etc. I wish they would offer a reduced membership fee for people who either can’t/don’t want delivery etc!

    • lorih

I’m with you, Gina! I also live about 20 minutes away from Walmart. I decided to join anyway, hoping the other perks will make it worthwhile. Doesn’t seem fair that we pay the same price but can’t receive all the benefits.

  14. Tina

Hello. How does the scan and go work inside the store? If I have a cart full of items am I scanning them as I add them to my cart? How will bagging the items work? Do I just walk out the door?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Tina!🤗 Great question! It looks like you could bag your items at self checkout. I did find these details on how that works –
“Scan each item’s barcode & place it in your cart. You’ll need to weigh items sold by the pound at self-checkout. A Walmart associate will need to verify your ID for items with age restrictions, such as alcohol.

Check out digitally – When you’re finished shopping, head to a self-checkout register, scan your QR code to finalize payment, receive an exit pass & e-receipt, & be on your way.
As you leave, a Walmart associate may scan your exit pass.

All of the steps including a video on how it works are here. Happy shopping!🥰

      • Tina

Thank you so much for this information! I appreciate it very much!

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

You’re SO welcome, Tina! Glad to help! 💖🥰

  15. Heather

I don’t see the Lyft offer – can you point it out? It’s one of the reasons why I joined today. thanks!

    • Heather

      Oh I found it 🙂

      • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yay! SO glad you found it, Heather! Thanks for the update! 🎉🙌

    • heather

Can you share how you found it, please.

      • heather

        Got it.

  16. Nanners

Can I use this membership to have groceries delivered to a different address in addition to mine? If the $35 min is reached would I be able to have them delivered to my parents house or my son’s? I’m thinking, if the flu hits the whole house and they need supplies, this would be so much easier than me driving the 2 hour round trip since I wouldn’t be able to stay and visit.

  17. Nanners

Oops. I just read through the thread and saw my question answered. Thanks.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

No worries! Glad you found the information you were looking for! You’re so welcome! 💞

  18. Winnie

I can’t get the signup button to work. Every time I try it says they are having technical difficulties. Try back later.

    • Winnie

Is it only for NEW members who have never had the trial???

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Winnie! You can still grab it if you’ve done the free trial before. It does seem their site has been having some technical issues lately with the increase in traffic. Maybe wait a moment and try again or switch to a different browser or device. Hoping that does the trick for you! 🤗💞

  19. Angela G

Anyone else only see the spotify offer and not the Lyft? I wanted the Lyft! Is there any other way to access it? Thanks

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

I still see the Lyft! Be sure to head to your account and scroll down to the limited time offers. If using a mobile device, you may need to switch to desktop view. Hoping you find it! 🤞❤️

      • Angela G

nope just the referral and spotify

        • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Oh darn! I’m also not seeing Lyft available for my account, Angela G! It seems that it may vary by region. I’ve added a note to the post about that. 💕

  20. LeeF

So to be clear- it is only free NO minimum for non perishable items? If I order groceries, it’s still free delivery but I have to meet the $35 min? Just wanted to get clarification- I have two Walmarts within a few miles of me. Also- does this feature work best if you set it up through the app or website?

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey LeeF! With Walmart+, you get free shipping with no order minimum (excludes freight, oversized and Marketplace items). If same-day delivery from your store is available near you, you do have to meet a $35 order minimum, otherwise there is a “Below order minimum” fee (mine was $6.99 when I tested this out). I personally don’t have a preference between the app or the website when using the membership. Hoping this is helpful! 💕

      • LeeF

        What are “marketplace items “?

        • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey there! Marketplace items means an item is sold by a 3rd party, rather than Walmart.com. You can check if an item is sold/shipped by Walmart near the “Add to Cart” button on a product’s page! Also, if I’m looking for something specific on a Walmart search, I use the filters to narrow the retailer down to “Walmart” so I know I’m only browsing items from there. Hope this helps! 💕

  21. Neymorra

Has anyone done this who also uses Paramount+? We were wondering if we can pay the little difference for commercial free, since it looks like it only provides the basic ad-supported plan. Is it possible to upgrade to the ad free plan and just pay the monthly difference?

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey there! I did find this in Walmart’s terms and conditions – “The included benefit is limited to the Paramount+ Essential Plan (ad-supported), only and does not include Paramount+ Essential Plan with Showtime.” Hope this helps! ❤️

  22. Dudleymom

I have absolutely loved my Walmart+ subscription for over a year! It’s worth every penny. I was picking up groceries weekly so having them delivered has truly spoiled me and I figure the gas and time I save pays for the subscription 😆. Keep in mind you do tip on home delivery. I recently added the in-home free trial but choose door step delivery instead of having them come in my home and for this service you’re not supposed to tip. I add my groceries to the app throughout the week then order on Fridays! I don’t know if I could ever go back to shopping in store 😆

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for taking the time to share about your Walmart+ experience! Glad to hear how much of a time-saver this service has been for you! 🙌💗

  23. Joan Thompson

Thanks H2S! I wanted the Walmart+ membership, but $99/yr was too much for my budget since I’m too far away for grocery delivery. The free delivery from Walmart.com with no minimum makes it worth the $49/yr, however. Also, adding Spotify will make my granddaughter really happy. We travel quite frequently, so any gas savings is appreciated as well.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

You’re so welcome, Joan! So glad this deal popped up for you to save on the membership you’ve been wanting! 🙌❤️

  24. Sue

Can someone answer if there are any added fees at all with a membership? Grocery delivery $35 minimum I understand is free, but like with Instacart are there “other“ fees, other than taxes? If the prices are the same as in store I’m wondering if there’s a convenience surcharge or gas fee.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Sue! I’m not seeing any additional fees associated with the membership, but you might check out
their FAQ page here, or contact customer service to be sure of the membership cost and benefits before snagging this deal. Hoping this is helpful! ❤️

      • Sue

        Thank you Jessica

        • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

          You’re welcome! 🥰

  25. Elaine S

One thing I have learned from my few weeks with walmart + is that free shipping with no minimum is not always coming up, even those sold and shipped from walmart.com. When I contacted customer service, they said place the order, after it arrives, contact customer service again and they will remove the shipping fee. Both times, it charged me $6.99 or $7.99 (for being under $35 minimum) and they have refunded me. Takes the extra step, but hey have honored what they said. It’s supposedly a glitch that is not catching all the items that should qualify as free shipping with w+. Hope that helps anyone else that has been on the fence about that.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for taking a moment to share about your experience with the membership, Elaine S! Glad to hear how helpful customer service has been for those shipping charges! 💖

  26. Melissa

Does anyone know if I can still use Ibotta for items I purchase through Walmart to have delivered? How does it work if I can use it?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yes! That will work for some items. You can find the details on that here. 🥰

      • Melissa

Thank you. I was able to link it to my account. Now that I know I can still use Ibotta to save on items purchased through Walmart+ Online, I’m going to try the offer and see how I like it. 😊

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yay! That’s awesome! You’re so welcome, Melissa! Hope you love it! 💖

  27. Diane Palmer

Can you get your prescriptions delivered?

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Diane! Walmart does offer prescription delivery! You can read all the details on that service here. Hope this is helpful! 🤞❤️

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hey there! I also was able to speak with customer service for additional info on this. They let me know that they have a pharmacy category you can use and if you have a prescription, they can do the delivery. 💖

  28. Pam

Does anyone know if Walmart is starting to charge for plastic bags with pickup and delivery orders? I received my normal confirmation email, but for the first time ever, there was a bag fee pending listed. I’m not in a state that restricts grocery bag use (Michigan), so it’s not a legal requirement. After the sneaky update to their substitution policy back in September, it feels like Walmart is adding another expense under the radar. If it is to be a new fee, it’s a frustrating one since Walmart is notorious for using way too many bags and only putting a few items in each. Can anyone confirm if this is just for states where it’s required or if they’re planning to take it chainwide?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Pam! I wonder if that may vary by region. I did chat with customer service and they let me know that they don’t charge a bag fee. You could always contact customer service by chat or phone to see if they can look into that for you! ❤️🤗

  29. Savvy Mom

Is the In Home included with the Walmart + membership? I noticed that with In Home, they’ll deliver your stuff to where you want and there isn’t any tipping needed. Along with taking returns back.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Great question! I just spoke with customer service and they let me know that it is an add on service and has a separate charge. 💖

  30. hip2trade

Does Walmart charge for substitution items or does it stay the same price as original item?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hey there! Some have reported seeing that they’ve been charged a price increase on substitutions that cost more than their original pick.

I did find this in their policy – “When an item is out of stock, we’ll offer you a similar item as a substitution. You can accept, decline, or return substitution offers. We’ll charge you the price of the substituted item(s). You may notice a temporary authorization hold. This is the amount we authorize to cover weighted items, potential substitutions, and any bag fees in your state.”

You can also change the settings in your order if you don’t want substitutions. They’ll also send you notifications to approve any substitutions that need made. Hoping that is helpful! 🥰

Love my Walmart+ Membership! I have saved a lot of money in shipping fees and having groceries delivered free (but I always give a tip, but it’s worth it) has been a real life saver at times! Thank you Hip2Save!

I have been a member of Walmart+ through Amex since they started it. Even though I am in NYC, no Lyft offer available. Also I send things to my nephew out of town and I request ship and it is invariably changed to delivery from a local store. 9 out of 10 times they don’t deliver- either no driver or the order is small. Also we have Optimum and cannot get Paramout+ added. We have tried many times through tech support and they cannot add it. I get the service for free so it is worth it for the free shipping, but as others have said it sometimes does not come up and I am charged.

So sorry to hear that you’ve not been able to enjoy all the benefits of the membership, acgold! Thanks for taking a moment to share about your experience. ❤️

If an item is shipping, not delivery, but if says same day delivery, do you tip? Thank you

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey there! We have a helpful post on tipping suggestions here, if you’d like to check that out! Hope that helps! 💞

Any one else have trouble using the gas discount at Mobil? My local mobile comes up on the app but when I get to the gas station and open the app I am never prompted to enter the tank number.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

SO sorry for the troubles, Anna. I did check their frequently asked questions and one suggested to ask an attendant for help if this isn’t working for you once at the pump. You might also try deleting and reinstalling the app. Hoping it works for you soon! 🤗🤞❤️

I have a Walmart+ membership and was recently charges the annual membership fee to my Amex card. Can I cancel my membership and reenroll in order to take advantage of the $12.95 discount?

    • Claudette (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Del! So sorry for any confusion. The added benefit will come at no cost to Walmart+ members as their membership prices will remain the same at $98 a year or $12.95 a month! Hope that’s helpful.💗
