I was not aware it was quite THAT famous.

    • Peaches

It may not be super famous but Wendy’s Chili is really good. I will be happy if I don’t have to drive to the next town over to indulge.

I heard and I don’t know how true it is but I heard they use the leftover hamburgers for the meat in the chili.

        • Jodi P

Yes, they do, and it’s a very good practice. When the restaurant is busy, they cook a lot of fresh burger patties as the orders come in, and the burgers are put together fresh as you order. But when the restaurant slows down, they’re left with extra patties that they do not hold while waiting for orders. Those patties are put in the fridge for the next pot of chili being made. They also cook hamburger specifically for the chili. There is zero difference between shaping the meat into a patty first before grilling it, and just cooking a mound of beef. They do not let prepared sandwiches sit around, and then take them apart and put the meat in the chili. Dave Thomas, the founder of Wendy’s, put chili on the menu BECAUSE of the extra cooked patties. Don’t we all do the same at home? Cook one thing, and turn it into something else?

Smart way to cut back on food waste.

I love their chili! I ALWAYS substitute fries for the chili. I do NOT like french fries and am happy they let me get the chili instead. Thanks for the recipe hip2save- will definitely be trying it!!!!

Thanks for clearing that up, Jodi P. I had no idea that Wendy’s put their leftover patties into their chili. And anyway the grocery store version will hardly be using leftover meat.

Let’s hope it doesn’t go as well as the Wendy’s themed Pringles flavors. The best thing about those were the free coupon codes for Wendy’s restaurant items under the lids. Those Pringles… were not very good.

When I was pregnant with my first son I actually craved Wendy’s chili. There was something about that chili and chocolate milk. Not together…. usually. Funny thing, I don’t think I have ate it since and he is now 16.

    • a_spiked_life

That’s really funny! I figured out I was pregnant with my last child bc all I wanted was Wendy’s chili! Haven’t eaten it since and she just turned 21 🤣

My husband entered a chili contest at work & just bought several servings of Wendy’s chili, put them in his own pot & won 2nd place! (He then confessed & gave away his prize to the next runner-up…but got a good laugh out of it!)

  6. Teresa

Yum… Chili cheese fries! Now I don’t have to order from Wendy’s to get my chili cheese fries on. I really like Wendy’s chili especially in the winter. I’m going to try the copycat recipe too. Thanks for the post!
I’m also going to keep an eye out for Chick-fil-A’s apple cider vinegar dressing in the stores.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

You’re welcome, Teresa! 💗 Hoping you spot this on your store’s shelf soon and enjoy the copycat recipe in the mean-time! 🤗

  7. Debby

I like Wendy’s chili, but that is a steep price for a 15 oz. can of it. I appreciate the site giving everyone a heads up on new products on the store shelves though.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

You’re welcome, Debby! Thanks for the heads up on what you think of the price! We’ll keep an eye out for any discounts that may pop up! 👀💗

  8. hjohnathan

I don’t see any in stock near me. But will be looking out for it! Thanks

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You’re most welcome! Hope you find it soon! 🤞

  9. Lana

I have been making a Wendy’s copycat recipe for years and pressure canning it. Always on my shelf and I know what is in it. I do quarts which is more of a meal size.

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

Such a great idea, Lana! Good that you always have some chili on hand to enjoy! 💗

  10. 5pink1blue

Wow that’s really expensive. I bet it doesn’t taste as good as fresh. Luckily, our Wendy’s is in front of our Walmart. If anyone tries, please post.

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

Glad to hear that you have a Wendy’s close by! We will be sure to keep our eyes peeled for any deals that may pop up on this! 💕

  11. Teresa

I am kind of bummed that Wendy’s chili is available from Walmart superstore by two day shipping only. I’ll keep my eye out in the grocery stores in Walmart. Thanks for the update!

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

DARN! Hoping you spot it in- store at your location soon, Teresa! 🤞 💕
