Here’s a fun and inexpensive craft for Halloween!

I decorated my front door like a jack-o-lantern for around $10 using all items I found at Dollar Tree. They have an excellent selection of fun items like faux spider webs, Halloween signs, skulls, and faux headstones, that are perfect to use as creative Halloween decor!

I wrapped my front door in orange wrapping paper, and used a couple sheets of their black poster board to achieve a fun jack-o-lantern look. I love how it turned out!

Hip Tips:

You can use wrapping paper or an orange dollar store plastic tablecloth to cover door. This may be a slighter more water-proof option, and will have a similar look.

Decorate the outside of door or inside. I also like the idea of placing this jack-o-lantern on the inside of the door, and you can use it as a fun photos backdrop on Halloween!

Don’t stress and try to make it look perfect! For instance, I felt like the area around my door handle turned out sloppy so I placed some Dollar Tree faux cobwebs over it, and problem solved!

Supplies Needed

  • 2 rolls of orange wrapping paper
  • 2 sheets of black poster board
  • scotch tape
  • scissors and exacto knife
  • 1 bag of faux spider webs and spiders

Directions

1

Unroll the wrapping paper and tape it to the front of door. Note: It took two rolls, and I overlapped a layer to wrap my door.

2

Use an exacto knife to carefully cut around the door knob and lock.

3

Cut two large triangles, and a mouth detail from the black poster board. Tape them to the door.

4

Add faux spiderwebs and spiders as desired.

What a BOO-tiful front door idea!

I love how this turned out, and that it was fun and simple to accomplish. I didn’t even measure or trace anything, and just simply taped everything up. My kids get excited over cute ideas like this for Halloween and I think you’ll enjoy this project, too!

Very cute Lina! I have an all white front door and it’s in full sun. Thinking the sun might mess up the orange, so gonna see if I can make a skeleton face! Hope it works. Thank you for the ideas!

Super cute Lina! I just went and got the “fresh pumpkins….50 cents” galvanized bucket this morning that you have. I remember you posted about them a while back and every time I went to HL I forgot to look for them. I figured it’s September so I should start fall decorating…yikes I can’t believe it’s already September. So I got it and bought some beautiful mums and placed them inside the bucket. Keep these super cute decorations ideas coming!
