santa poop cookies

The poop emoji is still going strong! 💩

Incorporate this fun trend into your Christmas baking this year! Make these Santa Poop Emoji Christmas cookies as a festive food craft project! These cookies are so fun to make and turn out so CUTE! The kids will enjoy helping out, and you’ll get some YUMMY cookies out of it, too!

DIY Poop Emoji Santa Christmas Cookies – the poop emoji cookie cutter

Start with yummy sugar cookie dough!

There’s some prep work involved in this project. For example, you’ll need to make sugar cookies and cut them out using a poop emoji cookie cutter. You can obliviously go with store-bought cookie dough, but I love and recommend THIS recipe we’ve used in the past to make rolled sugar cookies! They are delicious, and they hold their shape perfectly. Just remember to chill dough for two hours, as instructed.

Hip Tip: You can grab this pack of 5 cookie cutters for around $20 on Amazon (including the poop emoji one), which makes the cost just a bit over $3 per cookie cutter!

Make some royal icing!

Use whichever icing you like, but THIS is the Chocolate Royal Icing I chose, and my Santa cookies turned out yummy. Royal icing is a thin consistency icing made mostly of powdered sugar. It’s commonly used to “flood” sugar cookies for decorating and gives them a shiny texture. You’ll also need meringue powder, as most royal icing recipes call for that ingredient (then you’ll add a bit more water as needed so the texture is a little thinner to “flood” the cookie).

Directions

1

Roll out cookie dough, cut shapes, and place cookies on a parchment paper covered baking sheet. Bake cookies according to recipe directions. Let cool. Note: One batch of dough made 12 of these cookies for me.

2

Pipe royal icing around the cookie and fill in any little gaps using a toothpick. Make sure royal icing is a little on the thinner side by adding a teaspoon of water at a time. The texture shouldn’t be thick.

3

Once the icing starts to dry, draw a line using a toothpick to show separation of the three sections. This is optional, but I think lets you see some definition of the “poop”. LOL 😆

4

Let the royal icing completely dry. Toward the top of the cookie, add a Santa hat detail using red cookie frosting. You can, of course, use homemade frosting and dye it red. I just used the grocery store bought Betty Crocker tube with the “basket weave” tip.

5

Add some white cookie frosting details to the top and bottom of Santa hat. I used a “star” tip for this portion.

6

Add some candy eyes and a mouth detail. I’m using some black decoration gel here for the mouth. You can alternatively skip buying the candy eyes and just use black and white frosting.

I find it very sad that celebrating Christmas now includes such ideas as this.

    • judy

I agree. I came on to ask “WHY?”

    • Ktenny

It’s not replacing the true meaning of Christmas…it’s just adding a little fun. I think those are super cute!

      • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks! We completely agree- just supposed to be a funny cookie! ha

    • Katie

I agree. I’m so over this fixation on poop and that stupid poop emoji. I grew up in a home where we couldn’t even say “pee”! It is a sad reflection on society.

    • Jennifer

I found it to be helpful to have this post now so we have time to order the cookie cutters if we don’t have them or purchase ingredients for the future. It helps me to have a plan in place before the hustle and bustle arrives.

      • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks Jennifer for your input! 🙂

  2. Jason

Wow, saw that comment strolling down the street before I even read the post!

    • Cassie

      😂

    • Katrina

Cassie, that’s Easter Jesus, not Christmas Jesus 🙄 You have to be accurate here! Lol 😝

      • Cassie

Haha, true. Amazon also has the Nativity cookie cutters.

    • AP

I’m sorry, but that yellow thing looks like the silhouette of a monster from scooby doo.

  3. Laura

Poop, poop, poop!! Lighten up people, we all do it! Lol!! Sad that people are SO uptight. It’s just for fun!

    • mel

yeah, we all do it. But some things should stay in the bathroom! How’s about a splat of vomit for cookies next??

      • Laura

Sure! 🤷🏻‍♀️ After all tomorrow is Halloween lol. Lighten up lady! 😂😂

      • ana

lol! Btw, Am I the only one that is slightly confused with the new comment section here? I’m struggling to see what I am commenting on.

        • rebecca

it is confusing to me also, especially since the H2S crew comments are no longer a color that differentiates them from the rest of the comments. (used to be beige highlighted the official comments vs. reader content.)
this layout seems more spread out. not as tight visually.

        • *Angela-Miles*

I personally don’t like the new layout Lol. I agree with Rebecca it isn’t as visually tight and when I’m just waking up or something its not the easiest to read. The font is definitely not my favorite. Just my two cents, I miss the old layout! 🙂 .

          • ana

I miss it too, it’s not as user friendly.

  4. Gigglesnpink

I love this! I’m 28 and enjoy anything “Poop Emoji” so thanks for sharing! I’m going to surprise my family with these during the Holidays. Should get a lot of laughs! I’m even going as the “Poop Emoji” for Halloween. Lighten up people.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

That is so fun! Happy Halloween- and thanks for stopping by!

  5. abigail

If the post isn’t for you, then move along! Don’t make the cookies. I appreciate all ideas and posts and know to pass on those not pertaining to me.

  6. KetaKoya

These are SO cute!! Gonna make these for Christmas treats for sure

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yay! Have fun and THANKS <3

  7. Shannon

Ugh when will this trend ever end??!

    • Jodi P

Just as soon as the used maxi-pad trend catches on.

      • Jennifer

Boy, that went a little too far…..but…because I do have a healthy sense of humor…I like it😂

        • Jodi P

How did that go a little too far?

          • Jennifer

It didn’t really, lol. I poking fun at the fact that some are offended by poop.

  8. Bob

Not uptight and I am tired of seeing Poop every where like in toys, food and now Christmas decorations. It’s literally POOP… When did that become funny or cute to eat poop and wear poop on clothing or decorate your house in it? It’s gross. Why don’t they make PEE items then too or why not vomit. If you add glitter, people will buy it. *sigh and major eye roll*

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Hey Bob,

I totally understand that we each have our own opinion on what we like and don’t like. To be super honest and real, I have struggled with IBS for most of my life and so I personally celebrate poop. I know, it probably sounds odd, but since it has been such a struggle for me I try to make light of the situation and do that by wearing fun poop shirts, making poop cookies, and just laughing with friends about my personal struggles.

      • Bob

I get it and appreciate you telling your story. My daughter has IBS and this stuff bothers her. Hard to explain exactly, but you probably understand better than I. It’s a struggle for her and embarrassing. and honestly, I just don’t “get” the fascination with it to the point we have Christmas poop decor. *shrug* I liken it to Bratz dolls that everyone hated. Poop is this for me. But to each their own. Again, thanks for sharing your story. It’s always good to get another side.

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I sure appreciate it! And I can totally relate to what your daughter’s going through. ❤️

      • Jodi P

I’d rather decorate my tree with festive red-and-white used tampon cookies.

        • Lo

🙀 would that be a 4D tree because of the smell 🤔🤣 Christmas hack genius

          • *Angela-Miles*

Lmao!! That 4D tree comment really tickled me. Thanks!! Ha

  9. Kitty

You could probably use a Christmas tree cookie cutter

    • Dee

That’s what I was thinking. I have a lot of cookie cutters, so I’m going to see if I have a “poop worthy” tree cookie cutter. LOL

  10. Kat

These are fun as a gag gift! Pair with a “hope you don’t get crap for Christmas” tag lol my father in law would laugh so hard

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I love that! So funny! Thanks Kat

  11. Nydia L.

These cookies look cute! It’s good for the soul to loosen up a bit once in a while and have a good chuckle.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks! I agree <3

  12. hip2trade

It does make me cringe a bit at poop cookies…butt to each his own😂

    • Rebecca

      That typo tho….lol.

      • Scarlet B

        I think it was intentional.

  13. celticmommie

If the only thing you have to complain about today are poop cookies, then be grateful. The post and cookies are obviously meant to be funny and if you don’t find it funny or if it offends you, don’t make the cookies and move on. I just can’t believe with everything going on in the world right now that someone would actually complain about a poop cookie.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks, and I can’t agree more! It’s just a funny cookie my kids got a kick out of 🙂

      • celticmommie

        Rock on, Lina! 🙂

  14. Rebecca

I think these are super cute & easy enough that I shouldn’t mess them up lol. I have boys & and let’s be honest….there would still be bathroom talk around the table even if we weren’t eating these lol. I do have the poo brownie/cake pan as well and they get a kick out of that too. There are worse things in life!! Thanks for another fun idea!!

  15. IB

What a way to redneck up Christmas.

  16. AP

I’m over it, was when they first started gaining popularity. I personally find it disgusting. It’s feces. With eyeballs. I don’t need to lighten up, just not my cup of tea. We have a right to say so. Colin and team have a right to keep on posting poop! Different opinions are what make the world go round! 🙂

    • Jennifer

My kids love anything poop related so I think this is just another fun idea. It’s not that I love “cute” poop but I’m okay with most any harmless humor. I think it’s good with all that goes on in the world to brush off these little things and just have a laugh.

  17. Harlow

    I’ll pass thanks

  18. Wren

My dad (in his 60’s) was one of four boys and my grandma raised them to be SO polite, it’s crazy!! Bodily functions and whatnot were never ‘celebrated’ or encouraged for me growing up and we basically raise our kids now the same way. Bathroom stuff stays in the bathroom. We definitely have lots of toots and burps and whatnot around here but no poop cookies for us. ✋ Lena did a great job with these though!

    • Wren

      Shoot, ‘Lina’ (sorry!) 💐

      • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

        Ah thanks Wren!!

  19. Sue

Instead of always Christmas maybe you should do Hannukah and Kwanzaa poop cookies too!

  20. Heather

    I love it!!!

  21. keesh

    Cute

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks so much ❤️

  22. Michelle

I don’t find this symbolism funny even though I’m a nurse and take every chance to find humor in gross stuff. No thanks.

  23. Jodi P

A nice hot mug of hot cocoa diarrhea would be perfect with this.

  24. 50ShadesofLipstick

Jodi P, we get it…you’re edgy. Give it a rest already.

  25. chanel

People complain so much, omg, just don’t make the cookies, hahahahahaha!

  26. S

Gross. My young kids do like poop jokes but I don’t think I’ll be adding these to my Christmas recipes. Just doesn’t seem quite right, but to each her own.
