This Spooky Eyeball Pumpkin DIY Takes Pumpkin Carving to the Next Level
Set out spooky DIY decor this season by making this eyeball pumpkin!
Looking for a cool pumpkin carving idea for Halloween?
Consider creating this unique eyeball pumpkin by fitting a smaller white pumpkin inside a larger orange one for a cool 3D effect! It’s actually pretty easy to do, yet looks super fancy and clever.
If you’re ready to up your pumpkin carving game this year, try this easy Halloween craft!
Big or small, you’ll LOVE this spooky outdoor decor!
You can pull off this idea with large or small pumpkins. This would be a fun group craft to do this fall, and I love the idea of creating a bunch of eyeball pumpkins at various heights and using them to decorate a tablescape for a Halloween party!
DIY Carved Eyeball Pumpkins
PrintSupplies Needed
- Large-Sized Orange Pumpkin
- Slightly Smaller-Sized White Pumpkin
- Carving Knife
- Sharpie Markers or Paint
Directions
1
Carve a hole on the backside of the orange pumpkin, large enough so the white pumpkin can fit inside. Remove the stem from the white pumpkin first. Remove all the seeds and insides of the orange pumpkin.
2
Carve an eye shape on the front of the orange pumpkin, making sure the size is slightly smaller than the white pumpkin. Carve eyelash embellishments, if desired.
3
Insert a white pumpkin into the orange one and use a Sharpie to draw a black pupil and eye ball details. That’s it!
A few tips when trying this spooky eyeball pumpkin carving technique:
- Wipe down the white pumpkin well before drawing or painting. The Sharpie markers won’t stay on if it’s wet from the pumpkin guts, so have a towel close by to wipe dry first.
- Don’t throw out the insides of your pumpkin! Roast pumpkin seeds as a yummy snack or make pumpkin guts slime as a fun and easy Halloween craft!
- Walmart has a great selection of fresh pumpkins for this project. I went to 3 stores before finding the correct size. I’m sure you could also use faux craft pumpkins if desired instead, and then you’ll be able to reuse them again next year.
How creepy and cute are these eyeball pumpkins?!
I love the stunning results of this project, and it makes me want to make a bunch of fun DIY Halloween decor.
Carving pumpkins is not my best talent, and I was initially a little nervous this idea wouldn’t work out, but I’m happy to report this 3D eye pumpkin carving project was a success. Happy carving!
Use the stem of a pumpkin as the nose for another creative carving idea!
