New Amazon Prime Perk! Free Same-Day Delivery From Local Brick & Mortar Stores in Select Cities
Same-Day Delivery from select brick-and-mortar stores is the latest perk available to select Amazon Prime members!
Amazon Prime members in designated areas can now shop products from select retail stores and have their purchases delivered to their door as soon as that same day. Same-day items are available from dozens of categories, including everyday essentials, beauty, pets, toys, electronics, and apparel.
Prime members in and around Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, Miami, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Seattle, and Washington D.C. can now shop stores like PacSun, GNC, SuperDry, and Diesel, and receive their items with same-day delivery. Additional retailers will be joining the service in the next few months, including Sur La Table and 100% Pure.
This new service is free for U.S. Prime members who spend $25 or more on qualifying items. There is a fee of $2.99 for members who spend less than $25. Same-Day Delivery is also available to non-Prime members for a cost of $9.99 per delivery.
In addition to Same-Day Delivery, some retailers are also offering the option to buy online via Amazon for in-store pickup.
Prime members in eligible ZIP codes can simply visit the Amazon app or Amazon.com, browse participating retail stores in their area, and select Same-Day Delivery. Amazon then sends the order to the store, where a retail associate fulfills it from the store’s inventory.
When the order is ready, an Amazon delivery partner picks it up from the retail location and delivers it to the customer as soon as that same day.
This new Prime benefit is currently limited to a very small number of retailers in the 10 metro areas listed above. Amazon does have plans to expand with additional cities and retailers in the future, though. We can’t help but wonder what will happen to similar services like Shipt and Instacart as this program grows in the coming months.
