A recall has been issued for the BlendJet 2 portable blender.

Don’t mix that smoothie up just yet! BlendJet just issued a voluntary recall for 4.8 million BlendJet 2 portable blenders. If you own one of these small appliances, stop using it immediately.

There have been a high number of concerning incidents reported related to the BlendJet 2 portable blenders that range from the blades breaking in use to the units causing fires and burns. So far there have been almost 400 reports related to the following injuries and damages:

  • Approximately 329 reports of blades breaking while in use

Which BlendJet 2 portable blenders are impacted?

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, these blenders are approximately 9.5″ in height, 3″ wide, and weigh about 1.5 pounds.

The units came in several colors and designs and were available for sale at Blendjet.com, Costco, Walmart, Target, and other stores nationwide. They were for sale from October 2020 through November 2023 and retailed between $50 and $75.

To identify whether or not your unit is involved in the recall, look for the serial numbers which are printed on the bottom of the base. You’ll spot the numbers near the wording “blendjet2” and “The Original Portable Blender.”

If the first 4 digits of the serial number on your unit is between 5201 and 5542, it is subject to the recall. If you’re unsure whether or not your unit is part of the recall, you can also use the serial number search function on the BlendJet website or call BlendJet toll-free at (844) 334-0562 to verify. Customer service is available from 8 a.m. ET to 10 p.m. ET each day.

Even if your recalled unit appears to be functioning okay, you are advised to stop using it immediately and report the serial number to BlendJet.

How to file a claim in regards to the BlendJet recall.

Is your unit part of the Blend Jet recall? To remedy the situation, Blend Jet is willing to send you a replacement base (and matching lid). To file your claim, stop using your unit immediately and do the following:

  • Remove and cut the rubber seal from the base of your recalled unit
  • Cut the seal into at least 3 pieces
  • Take a photo of your blender’s serial number along with a photo of the base in 3 or more pieces
  • Upload or email this photo to www.blendjet.com/safetyandrecall or safety@blendjet.com

BlendJet will send you a new base for each impacted blender you own. Simply file a separate claim for each unit.

There is a place to check and see if your serial number is one of the ones being recalled. My number fell between the numbers you listed yet when I put it in the serial number lookup, it is not being recalled. I am glad I didn’t cut anything before checking.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for the heads up on how you checked yours, Terri! ❤️

  6. Mandi

They are only offering 3 color replacements. Black, teal, and purple. Bought my daughter the geode one and they don’t give that option.

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing the color options that are offered for the replacements, Mandi! 🤗
