Joann Closing Sales at All 790 Stores – But We Aren’t Seeing Big Discounts Yet
We’ve got the latest updates on Joann Stores’ Closing.
In February, Joann announced it would be closing some of its stores, but it seems there is no escape a year after filing for bankruptcy. Joann is officially closing ALL of its 790+ locations nationwide. Note that Joann.com is also now closed to online orders, so you will need to shop in-store only.
The GA Group, together with the Prepetition Term Loan Agent, will acquire Joann’s assets and has already begun going out of business sales at all locations.
We are not seeing huge price drops in our stores yet, and some products are still only 10% off. Most items are around 30-40% off, with some fabric being marked down to 60% off. Christmas items are only 80% off, while other stores already had Christmas for 90% off back in January.
We’ll keep checking and update you once we see the discounts increase in stores.
What prices are you seeing items marked down to at your local Joann’s?
What does Joann’s stores closing mean for shoppers?
- Significant discounts on a wide assortment of crafting, sewing, and home décor products storewide. All sales are final during the closing sales event.
- All furniture, fixtures, and equipment are also available for purchase.
- Effective immediately, returns and gift cards will no longer be accepted.
- Due to high demand, online orders can no longer be placed.
When does Joann’s going-out-of-business sale end?
The going-out-of-business sale is expected to last for approximately 12 weeks, until the end of May or until supplies last. So, if you’re considering stocking up on fabrics, yarn, and other crafting materials or decor, the sooner you can shop, the better. Shelves have already been picked through in many locations.

Is there a way to see the list without downloading it to our phone?
Hi there, Vallarina! I was able to click the link, and it opens in a new tab on my browser when using a laptop. If you’re on a mobile device, the default setting for PDFs might be to download instead. You could try opening it in a different browser or checking your settings to see if there’s an option to view it online. Hope that helps! 😊📄
This so sad. The one that was 45 minutes from me is closing and the only other one is over an hour and $25. in tolls to get to. It is hard to buy some fabrics and beads without seeing them in person.
I’m so sad to see this! Seems all of the brick and mortar stores are closing! Our JoAnn, which was not in the original list of stores that would be closing, is next to where Big Lots was, so now we’ll have 2 closed stores right together 🙁 Times are sure changing
Very sad! Fabrics and crafting materials are something one NEEDS to see and touch and feel before purchasing…but those days are almost over. More screen time, less human interaction. We are becoming robots, even those of us who try to avoid it.
I completely agree! I’m a quilter and sometimes you need something specific and I have bought fabric online and it was either off in color or print scale. Now there’s only Hobby Lobby which I don’t like and Michaels has a limited amount of fabric but it is nice
Micheals and hobby lobby do have fabric. But not at the deals Joann’s had them
Wow! They originally said they were keeping some stores open.. There is nowhere to buy fabric, buttons or sewing notions anymore. I agree that sometimes you need to see and touch. Color is hard to distinguish on line.
So heartbreaking is all of the people losing their jobs. My local store has employees I have been seeing for years. One has been cutting fabric there for 19.5 years, close to retirement. My heart hurts for all of them and I hope they are able go find new jobs. It won’t be the same buying these things online.
Since most were part time they can’t get unemployment either
NO!! Not joann’s!! thats the only place here in my town that I can get fabric. I love Joann’s!! I got there alot. It will be a sad day when they close.
I’m really disappointed about this. I’m hoping that some other options will be coming in the future for us crafters. I went today and it’s heartbreaking. They say it might be a while because they have a warehouse full
I saw that it mentioned gift cards have to be used by today, February 28. Does anyone know if that is also true for store voucher cards since that would be more like cash? I’ll probably just call a couple of our stores around here to find out, but if anybody does know, please comment.
Hi Laura! I called my local store and they said that any gift card or store credit must be used by today. I would suggest that you still call your store before making the trip just to be sure. Hope this helps! 🤗
Thanks Trish- I appreciate you letting me know. I will make to use it tonight
You’re most welcome! ❤️
I just received a gift card this past Tuesday, a late Christmas present. I wasn’t able to see these people because of medical reasons. The card is for $35.00. I immediately went to Joann’s to use the card and was told they will no longer accept them. I have been an avid shopper ever since Joann’s opened and I taught sewing 101 for about eight years at the Madison Hights store. Is there any way my money can be reimbursed. Thank you, Karen Ulatowski
So sorry to hear that, Karen! 💕 That’s definitely frustrating, especially as a longtime shopper and former instructor. I’d recommend reaching out to Joann’s customer service to see if they can help— you can email them at customer.service@joann.com Monday – Friday from 9 AM – 6 PM EST. Hoping they’re able to find a solution for you! 🤞💖
FYI In WI I went yesterday and most items were only 10-20% off a smaller amount of 30%
Thanks for letting us know what discounts you spotted. 💕 It does look like discounts have increased up to 40% off starting today. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any further markdowns!
Just, FYI…Went there today, discounts 20 – 40 %, prices still higher than before the closing was announced.
Fabric.. minimum 2 yards.
Thanks for sharing the discount amounts at your location, M! 💗
Now they are saying that all the stores are closing and they won’t accept my gift cards. Don’t they have to honor gift cards already purchased? Is anyone else honoring Joann’s gift cards?
Hey Marcia. So sorry. Joann’s did give a short-window of opportunity to redeem gift cards (through February 28th) after announcing the closure of all stores. We haven’t heard of any other retailers honoring the gift cards, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled. 🤞💗
Once the liquidation companies comes in, the discounts are low and slow. You might even see items from previous clients that were never sold at JoAnn.
This makes me so sad. I have done a lot of shopping there over the years.
What’s our options now? Walmart or online where everything is made in china.
Great question, Saeah! We did get many responses on Facebook when asking about alternatives, if those comments might be helpful to browse through. 🥰
