Is this only for new members or can I buy it to add time to my current membership?

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Good question, Barb. Unfortunately, it looks like these offers are not valid for current memberships. Here’s the details on that – “Offer is not valid for membership renewals, current members, those who were Sam’s Club members within the past six months, guest members, and Walmart or Sam’s Club associates.” ❤️

      • Shelby Riggs

Well if not valid for current member then cancel mine.

        • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Sorry for any confusion, Shelby. If you’re looking to cancel your membership, be sure to visit the Sam’s Club website and log-in to your account to confirm the cancellation with them. ❤️

You can apply Walmart gift cards towards your Sam Clubs Plus membership with the maximum of 4 of them being applied. Their are many GPT & Survey sites that you can acquire Walmart gift cards to help pay for your membership to reduce anything cost coming of your checking account.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for sharing that tip! 🙌 Walmart gift cards can definitely be used at Sam’s Club for purchases, which is a great way to save a bit. It looks like they aren’t eligible to be used toward membership fees though, those typically require a standard payment method or a “gift of membership” card instead. Appreciate you chiming in with ways to save! 💕

I’ve been using them for membership for years both online and in store including my last renewal. You go to add a new payment method and start typing in the gift card numbers and pin. When I just checked my managed account it said you can also apply Sams Cash towards a membership. So I respectively disagree with you 🙂

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

So interesting at their Gift Card FAQ page currently lists that it does not apply to membership fees. Thanks for letting us know about your experience! We’ll keep an eye on this! ❤️👀

It would be nice if they would actually charge the correct tax rate for my billing address on my membership. They keep charging the rate for the city next to mine, despite my account having the correct address. I tried three times to get them to fix this. They never do. I gave up on getting them to fix it. With the current tax rates, I am stuck paying an extra 0.5% on my membership fee.

I joined in January 2018. They only charged the correct rate at the first renewal in 2019. They undercharged by $0.01 in 2020. I didn’t notice any of the discrepancies until 2022. Sam’s Club currently owes me $3.23 after subtracting the $0.01. That will go up to $3.83 in January 2027.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

So sorry to hear of the mixup, Sara. That does sound frustrating. Have you been able to speak with customer service at your store? Hoping they might be able to offer some help! ❤️🤗

  4. Ursulina

In my area, Charlottesville Virginia, Sam’s Club sells gasoline for $.20 to $.40 less per gallon (regular) than nearby gas stations. That alone is worth the membership for me.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

That sure is a nice savings! Thanks for commenting!

  5. Curious new member

Do you know how long I can wait to activate the membership after I buy it? My spouse has a membership that expires in 2 months, and I would like to get one on my name this time, but I want to activate it in 2 months, not now

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

Good question! I called the customer service number and was told that there is no set time to activate the membership after purchase, but your 1-year membership clock typically starts when you activate/use it. Hope this helps! ❤️
