The Body Shop Is Closing its Doors – Even the Online Store!
The Body Shop has closed ALL of its US stores!
On March 1st The Body Shop announced it was filing for bankruptcy and closed all of its US stores and the online store.
The Body Shop, known for its natural, cruelty-free beauty products, was founded in 1976 and has been sold to multiple companies in the last decade.
Due to poor sales in the past few years, they were forced to file for Chapter 7 liquidation last week and will now be selling off certain assets to pay back its US creditors. While some stores in other countries such as Canada, and Australia will remain open, all 50 locations in the US are now closed.

I’m really sad to see The Body Shop close. I remember way back in the 80’s and 90’s it used to be so fun and different to shop there while at the mall and the fragrant soap, lip balm and banana conditioner were staple products for me. This is such a bummer. I also loved the book by the founder Anita Roddick and remember hearing that it was required reading at Harvard business school for a time. What a shame that so many well known and loved businesses are closing the last several years.
Sad to see them go. My first makeup purchase as a young teen. This was a good brand with quality products. (Not so common in the tick-tick age.)
Same. Discovered as a teen in the mid-90’s and it made me totally on-board with cruelty-free shopping to this day. I’ll miss them.
