With fast food chicken sandwiches stirring up more buzz than ever, we couldn’t help but wonder: which one really reigns supreme? From cult favorites to new contenders, the chicken sandwich wars are still alive and well!
So, we sent our go-to taste-tester and self-declared chicken sandwich connoisseur, Stetson, on a mission to try five of the most talked-about options. He tested Popeyes, Chick-fil-A, Wendy’s, KFC, and McDonald’s to see which ones actually live up to the hype (and which ones totally miss the bun).

If salty > sweet in your book, don’t skip Popeye’s!
Popeye’s Classic Chicken Sandwich – $4.99
Stetson says: I hardly ever eat Popeyes, but the chicken is MASSIVE. Overall really good sandwich, although slightly on the saltier side. Its also very crunchy on the outside edges, but still juicy. Def makes my top #2 chicken sandwiches!

Wendy’s Classic Chicken Sandwich – $4.39
Stetson says: Got the classic chicken plus two pickle combo. I didn’t have high hopes, but not bad. I’d rank this as my number 4 out of 5 pick.

Even if you lean spicy, Chick-fil-A’s classic is just that good – top #3 material for sure.

Stetson says: From somebody who typically goes for spicy, not classic, this isn’t too bad. A very juicy sandwich and not overly done! This is definitely a top favorite and I’d give it a #3 from my list!

It’s called the McDonald’s “McCrispy,” but sadly, the crunch (and the wow) never showed up.

Stetson says: I have no words except – burnt. The McCrispy is a no-go.

KFC Classic Chicken Sandwich – $5.99
Stetson says: The chicken is really crispy on the outside and its really juicy! Definitely my #1 for just being the juiciest and perfectly crispy! It just looks the freshest and I think you should definitely give it a try it.

We don’t eat at Wendy’s anymore. My brother doesn’t like their billboards right now wishing us misery and misfortune and then says to bad for you. Not a message we like.
I love Wendy’s! I usually get a single. I am going to try the chicken next time. There are not many KFCs in our area anymore. But we still have one in my town. I am going to try the chicken sandwich. Thank you, Stetson! I am sure this was a fun task.
Have to agree, the Colonel has won the chicken sandwich wars.
I have never tried KFC chicken sandwiches, I don’t know why, I love their fried chicken. Guess I will be trying one. But until then, Chick Fil is number one, without pickles. I heard that Popeye’s is spicy and it looked like the breading on it was pretty thick, but might try it too.
