Do your thighs feel like they could start a small fire sometimes? ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Mine do โ€“ and it’s so annoying! Lina here, and today, I’m sharing an easy fix using Gold Bond Friction Defense anti-chafing stick which I discovered last summer to get some relief. If you’re a thicker-thighed gal like me, I’ve gotcha covered on this common problem!

hand pulling out gold bond stick from personalized hanging bag

Now, I realize this post is a little bit of a departure from the yummy recipes and DIY projects I normally share, but if you shy away from wearing cute summer dresses, skirts, and shorts due to the uncomfortable irritation hot weather can bring โ€“ look no further!

I started using the Gold Bond Friction Defense anti-chafing stick years ago, and it’s been the BEST stuff ever to keep on hand! No more annoying “chub rub” thanks to this soft and satin-like balm that comes in a deodorant type container to smooth on your skin wherever you may need it. The texture is smoother and longer-lasting than using actual deodorant!ย

I love that you can apply it, go on with your day, and forget about it because of its long-lasting coverage!

Gold Bond Friction Defense is a must for anti-chafing!

This miracle stick can do it all!

  • It reduces friction.
  • It soothes and moisturizes skin.
  • It’s non-irritatingโ€”gentle enough for even sensitive skin.
  • It’s long-lasting and non-greasy.
  • It has a dry satin texture.
  • It doesn’t discolor or affect clothing.
  • It works at the pool or beach.

And it’s not just for thighs!

My daughter and I happen to have super sensitive skin everywhere and I tend to get irritation and hives easily due to friction. I love that I can apply this anti-chafing stick underneath my bra area or on top of my feet if I’m wearing boots or shoes that rub or cause friction. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Gold Bond is a must-try solution for everyone in the family!

Even my husband and son have their own bottle and use Gold Bond regularly especially when participating in sports and anything involving walking/running for longer durations.

It’s a must-have to use for waterparks, Disney trips, and we definitely use it for hiking with the family too!

You can easily find Gold Bond Friction Defense on Amazon for the best price! Plus, you’ll save even more when you use Subscribe & Save!

Just a little disclaimer, Gold Bond is NOT paying me to write this post, but they totally should because I truly love this stuff! ๐Ÿ˜

Prevent the dreaded thigh chafing with these affordable slip shorts, too!

Try deodorant – works the same!

    • Lo

      Yes! I just use deodorant

  2. Rachael

This is the greatest product ever. I’ve used it in water parks. It helped me survive two Disney trips, camping, and hiking. I use it all Summer! It is honestly as easy to use as deodorant and truly life changing! If you are on the fence, buy it. You will not regret it!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes I agree with all those too! Thanks for sharing ๐Ÿ’•

  3. acgold

Monistat makes an anti-chafing “gel”. It is great for chafing and also to stop blisters. It is in the feminine hygiene aisle.

    • Lori

Love Monistat anti-chafing gel. Will be giving this one a try too.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks for the tip!

    • Dimple

Iโ€™ve been using this Monistat product too and it works great! However, I like the fact that the Gold Bond is a โ€˜stickโ€™ so no need to rub in with your hand!
      Thanks for the recommendation Lina!

      • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

        Yes, itโ€™s great! Sure ๐Ÿ‘

    • Sarah

Oooh, thanks for that info. Wearing a swim suit for very long has given me blisters ever since I was small. I didnโ€™t know they made something for it! Iโ€™m excited to find it.

  4. lexie21lexie

How quick does it wear off? I tried the Monistat chafing gel and it wears off within an hour.

    • Rachael

I don’t have to reapply all day!

      • lexie21lexie

Thanks! I will definitely give this a try.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Mine lasts all day.

  5. Meg

Ive used the monistat one but I’ve never seen this. My husband will thank you. As always Hip2save is the best!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh thanks Meg! My hubby has his own bottle too and uses it most days too.

  6. Mary

I need this but first let me ask the following…. Does it have a scent? How long does it last on hot summer weather? Thanks H2S

    • jacqueline ferrara

It has no scent and I put it on in the morning, donโ€™t even realize itโ€™s there and it doesnโ€™t need to be reapplied throughout the day. I also use it under my tummy flap and breasts.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

No scent and all day for me! If swimming Iโ€™ll reapply.

  7. Rebecca

I use Gold Bond Powder under the girls, couldn’t live without it.

  8. Jw206

Stuff is a lifesaver. A summer must have!

  9. jolene

Love this stuff! Discovered it a few years ago. We use it when at the beach, water parks and my son uses it for sports (we each have our own)

  10. frugal-fit-sexy

We use Body Glide, it’s amazing,. A lifesaver a Disney last summer when I wanted to wear short dresses for the heat.

  11. Cherryluva

I agree with a lot of the commentary, right now I’m using vagisil powder, and just like the others I’ve tried, gold bond baby powder, Monistat anti chafing, and Lanacane anti friction, they ALL wear off fast. Anti monkey butt powder lasted a bit longer than these, excited to try this stick, thanks for sharing!

    • Cherryluva

Also, deodorant doesn’t last as long either, even the most expensive to the cheapest, I’ve tried it all.

      • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes I agree- the texture is smoother and diff than deodorant – but hard to explain! Ha

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes! I think youโ€™ll like this!

  12. Rkickes

Is anyone else dieing over the phrase “chub run”? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

    • jennifer

Yes!!!! Iโ€™ve been giggling about it all day ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

    • JHO444

Bahahaha!!! I did get a kick out of it when I very first read it LOL ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  13. Crystal

Thank you for saying chub rub! ive used this term with other people and they look at me super confused. They dont understand the pain. Chub rub is horrible! Oh and the sweat that comes with it. I actually have been using Gold Bond no mess body powder spray for my rubbing areas. I use that one cause it has aloe in it so it helps me personally sooth already sensitive areas. Only down side is it burns a little when you apply it.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Oh interesting! Thanks for sharing!

    • ambersteph

I like the gold bond spray as well! Less messy than the powder & itโ€™s cool feeling. I also use the stick for the rub but the spray is another option to stay dry

      • ambersteph

Works well under the girls & my guy borrows the spray frequently

  14. s

Iโ€™ve been using this since you recommended last year. Life changing. โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yay!! Iโ€™m so glad!

  15. missy

my sons have terrible chaffing whenever we go to the beach. they get it all in their inner thights. Would this product help them? Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes!! My son uses it for that too. I would def try this for them ๐Ÿ‘

    • AmandaJ

My son has a horrible problem at the beach too. Vaseline is a lifesaver for him. It works best if he puts it on at the beginning, but sometimes he forgets and it still helps him enjoy the beach even after the rash happens. I bet this gold bond stick would help too

      • redsoxgirl

I cut those net liners out of my son’s bathing suit and it helped a lot because the sand didn’t get trapped to rub!

  16. Ashley

I use this for long runs because it is cheaper than body glide. It works great where my arms rub against the seams of my tanks and stays on even when I’m sweaty. I used to use vaseline, but that leaves a greasy stain.

    • Suzanne

Ashley, I agree. Even if you don’t have any chub to rub, exercise during the heat and humidity causes sores where my tank top rubs against the side of my chest. I used to use a sports brand version but it was expensive, and after repeated use it left a funky smell on my shirts. I just ordered some of this to try. Thank you!

  17. JD827

This is the best product ever. I agree it is life changing. I will add that if you already have an area of red, sore irritation get out the desitin, esp under the girls. It heals quickly while sealing out the moisture for hours. The drawback is it has a distinct odor but if Iโ€™m using it I donโ€™t care because I need it. Than go back to the Gold Bond as preventative.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks for the tip!

  18. brb2222

Thank you, will give it a try. I have lost so much weight but still need something, and my dr. scripted me a powder that costs $100 for 8 oz. I cannot afford to purchase that every month during the summer. Will check out this product.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh yes, I think youโ€™ll like this!

  19. V

This is miracle stuff! I have been using it since all of you recommended it last year. It’s hard to find around here. I bought my last stick a few days ago at Walgreens.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Awesome! Thanks for sharing!

  20. tmac

As a mom of boy scouts, this is a must for summer camps! Clue in the scout master too! This can make the difference between a good week at camp or a miserable week! Then replace for football camp!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes agree! My son is a Boy Scout too and brings it with him! Great idea ๐Ÿ‘

  21. Emma

My husband swears by this when we go to water parks. Boy chafing makes him a grump and I get it, but this was a game changer!!!

  22. ddd0319

I love the departure into this realm! Thanks for the suggestion! Also makes me feel more โ€œnormalโ€ to see chub rub as a common problem many people face!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Oh thanks for the feedback!

  23. Sue

I wish people did not need this product. I have 6 kids. My youngest 3 made my inner thighs rub together. It is the worst feeling ever!!! I don’t know how any human being can put up with it. I just got my body completely back from the last baby took 5 months. No more rub and I feel great! Please consider spending 10 minutes a day doing exercises to stop the uncomfortable feeling. I promise it is worth every single second you spend on it.

    • rebeccandkiki

I want to say, chub rub, does not just mean it is from chub. Trust me, my 12 yr old daughter is thin as a rail and her inner thighs rub together so bad her skin gets irritated from it. So, “10 minutes a day of exercise” is not going to help get rid of this. She is already thin, and it is just the shape of her body. Even stick thin people who run/jog alot get rub irritation everywhere, arms rubbing on side of shirt, nipples rubbing on shirt, inner thighs, heel of foot on sock, etc.

    • shop4mybabies

I’m fat..and I normally don’t get annoyed by anyone or anything..but i’m seriously annoyed by your comment…10 minutes a day is not the cure for everyone. I see a nutritionist, a weight loss doctor, a weight loss therapist, I follow an 1800 calorie high protein eating regime, i walk 5-8 miles daily and it has taken since November to lose 25 pounds with another 100 to go. You might have the body and metabolism that allows you to put 10 mins into something and be successful, but I have to put 24/7 into it and it’s a slow go.

      • Dawn

Being over weight is about eating not about exercising. Exercising is for your health. It’s actually not a very effective way to lose weight. Trust me, I know.

    • JD827

Mmmm, Iโ€™m in my 70โ€™s. The girls are the size heredity destined me with and 10 minutes a day of exercise isnโ€™t going to change a thing but Gold Bond and Desitin fixes a lot. Hereโ€™s the truth most of us come to as we ageโ€”it falls down, falls off, or we wish it would. Exercise and great diet are wonderful but are no match for the march of time. Hand me the Gold Bond please!

      • MrsG

JD827 can we be friends? You are awesome!

        • JD827

          Absolutely! Youโ€™ve got a friend.

      • shop4mybabies

        love it ๐Ÿ™‚

    • akajulz

10 minutes of exercise a day will accomplish very little. Weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. That’s why it is so hard for people to lose weight. You can give up drugs or alcohol but you still have to eat food which is the source of your addiction. For a lot of people like me, I would rather exercise more and not have to give up calories but unfortunately that is not how it works. Exercise is great for the cardiovascular system and muscle health so it definitely has benefits.

    • mae

I work my butt off at the gym. I have 3 kids and look smoking hot. I am a babe, ok? No amount of exercise will ever make my hips be set farther apart. I have to use the chub stick on my thighs during my 13 miles runs. None of what I said above matters, because we are more than bodies. You better find a better source of self esteem cuz girl, you sound awful. I feel sad for you sue.

  24. Carrie

My boys chaf at the beach. We use baby diaper cream with zinc. We call it surf cream. They are older now but still use it and ask me to add it to my shopping list before a beach trip!

    • CTRJ

All the talk about the “girls” then you say my “boys” caught me off guard for a second. LOL, I looked up to see if the poster was male. I do understand about all the rub in all the wrong places.

  25. Elizabeth M.

I have a kid in marching band. This stuff is a must.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yes!! Great tip thanks!

  26. Roro55

Saved our Disney trip last year. Actually went searching for the monistat, but the worker at CVS recommended this. My son was a happy camper the rest of our trip!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Oh thatโ€™s great to hear!

  27. Taylor A.

Thank you so much for sharing! It’s great to know that there is a product out there for this issue! I’ve been trying all sorts of things and low and behold there’s a remedy right here! I didn’t have anything else in mind for my CVS Carepass $10 this month, so I’m going to splurge and try this out! Thank you so much!

  28. katilovestoshop

I ALWAYS use this when running, but have recently started using it when I wear dresses. Such a lifesaver!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thatโ€™s great to hear! Thanks for sharing!

  29. Kb

Ordered in case we get to do some summer camping with scouts! Excited to try this.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh nice. I think youโ€™ll like it. ๐Ÿ‘

  30. cjtatashe

Lume Deodorant works wonders too! You can use/put the deodorant anywhere. I got it for my husband at first because it claimed to work 72 hours. He is a Marine so a weekend drill without a shower put the 72 hour claim to the test. His boots and clothes were covered in mud but his body parts did not stink! I was sold. I got some for myself and being a just a bit of a bum during self isolation I admit to a couple of days between showers. No boobs sweat, no chub rub and my pits smell nice and fresh! I am finishing up the last of my other deos now and will only buy the Lume from now on!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks for the suggestion!

I have been using this for years. My favorite solution to prevent blisters and abrasions on my toes and heels all year round.Do so both when wearing socks or going barefoot.Has prevented pain like nothing else including far more expensive anti chafing sticks.Yes works elsewhere quite well but try it on your feet for things like Rhinebeck straps. No more band aids necessary.I do not get compensated either.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks for sharing Lora!

  33. Rain Formetono

I sweat where my underwire is when I go for long walks in the heat then it gets ichy and so uncomfortable and I get a rash. That all went away when I started using Gold Bond Friction Defense. I also put it on my feet inbetween my toes when I wear sandals and my granddaughters do also and they are six years old and not overweight either. I just happen to see this product when I was surfing through Amazon.

  34. JHO444

I love every Gold Bond product I’ve ever used. I’m excited to try this product. Thank you for the fantastic article and feedback.

  35. Es

I purchased the last time it was posted and definitely works in very hot and weather I ๐Ÿ’• to wear dresses and shorts. Thanks for sharing tried tips! ๐Ÿ‘

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh thatโ€™s so great to hear!

  36. Shey

This sounds like what Iโ€™ve been looking for!!! Iโ€™ve spent months on crutches and canโ€™t handle the rawness from rubbing into my sides anymore. Cannot wait to try, thanks for the idea!

  37. shop4mybabies

I ordered this when Lina originally posted. two sticks. less than 10 bucks shipped. I LOVE IT. I use it under the DD size breasts, on my thighs, and under my stomach roll. my dancer daughter uses it by her armpits where leotards rub. it stays on all day, it has zero smell, it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin, it’s so much better than powders. THANK YOU LINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You’re my chub rub hero!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Lol ๐Ÿ˜‚ well I am so glad to hear that! Thanks for sharing ๐Ÿค— I agree itโ€™s helpful ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  38. Donna Quire

OMGN!! Thank you so much for sharing! What a great product that I didnโ€™t even know existed! ๐Ÿ˜Š

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)
