Would the smell be too strong if you have chemical sensitivities?
Thanks a great question, Emily NYC. I’m sure everyone is different so it’s hard to say, but as I mentioned in the post, there are quite a few essential oils making up the scent for this product so it is strong. However, I find it to be really pleasant. If you’re only able to handle mild or completely unscented products I would definitely not recommend this product in that case.
Im pretty sensitive to smells and this does have a pretty strong scent. I was still ok using it but it would have been too much for me when I was pregnant (sense of smell was in overload.) If you are easily nauseated by strong scents in general this may not work for you.
Does it take dare of ticks?

Hey Ann! It doesn’t directly call out “nauseums” on the container, but it does say it repellent black flies so maybe there’s a resemblance since they’re both in the fly family. I would ask the company before ordering though if that’s your major concern! I hope this helps!
Does it leave your skin greasy after applying? I’ve used different essential oil based repellents in the past but they left my skin feeling so oily.
This is very moisturizing, Kate, so it will leave your skin feeling soft. If you use too much it can definitely make it feel greasy, however, you don’t need much at all for it to be effective. 🙂

I’m so glad you asked before ordering, JMcRayde. I don’t have any pets at the moment so that’s not something that even came to find. If you head over to Amazon from our link and scroll down to questions/answers someone did ask about dogs and the seller responded saying this: “Yes! You can certainly use our No Bite Me products on dogs. We suggest putting in their arm and leg pits, down their bellies and right near their ears.”

JMcRayde, you might want to check out Wondercide natural products, especially designed for pets. They have a cedar-based spray for pets (and people). They’re based in Austin, TX and use Texas Cedar. Their pet shampoo bars are the BEST for washing dogs. They have an Amazon store, but I buy directly from their site as they often send out 20-30% off codes (the cedar yard spray is pricey, but it works great at keeping fleas and mosquitoes away).
Effective on bees?!
They don’t call out bees on the container, JMcRayde. I would reach out to the company about that just to be sure. I think bees, naturally are not looking to attack like the other bugs most are looking to fight off. Hopefully this helps and you find a solution you’re looking for!

I just discovered this product a couple of weeks ago through my local MOMS group. Ordered it directly through the company rather than Amazon and received $5 off my first purchase and it came within the same week of me placing the order. As it states on the back of my jar of cream, all of the active ingredients are the oils I already have listed in the post and then the “inert ingredients” are purified water, soy and canola oils, beeswax, lecithin, and rosemary needle. Then at the bottom, it states: *Derived from natural plant extracts naturally occurring in several culinary herbs and spices.

Oh my I literally just bought this 2 days ago on a recommendation from a lake cabin guest where we are staying because the sandflies were so bad. I am also a mosquito magnet…two days and not one bite. This stuff is amazing!!!
I bought this last year, both the cream and soap. It was very effective. We showered with the soap and then used the cream. We also used Wondercide on the grass at my sister’s lake home , where there are ticks and lots of deer.. It is totally non-toxic and can be used around pets and children You can walk on it immediately. It worked on ticks and we did see less mosquitos and ants. Our chocolate lab had almost no ticks after being in the backyard, constantly.
I purchased this through your link a couple of weeks ago. I love it so much I just reordered a larger size for their website. I absolutely love the smell and even though it did not prevent all bites, it greatly reduced the amount of times I am bitten outside. I live in my garden and traditional bug spray makes me sick. So glad to have found this product!
I know everyone has their own preference on scent but personally I LOVE the smell of this stuff. As someone who suffers from migraine causing synthetic fragrance allergies the natural essential oils are a welcome break form common bug repellents. I purchased some last year, have used numerous times on our family of 5 and still have half a jar left. So glad I tried this product.
I ordered this product after a previous posting and can vouch for it whole heartedly! It does smell amazing, it’s effective both for preventing bites and afterward if you do get bitten, for itch relief! My husband also loves to use the soap as a preventive on grass-mowing days. It’s so nice to find a product that works and doesn’t make you smell like chemicals and feel icky-sticky!!
Bought this after the previous post about it. We have 2 year old twins and the sprays you buy are not safe for children under a certain age! We received it, and are going to use it this weekend! Loving the helpful comments about ingredients and all the testimonies! This is why I have loved Hip2Save for so many years! Have a quick question about ingredients in soap, we have a nut allergy son. Can anyone who has this verify it contains no nut products? Almond oil is used a lot and I just want to be sure it’s ok. Seems from what website says the lotion is safe but just want to check the soap if possible. Thanks all!
Thank you so much for the sweet comment, StacyY! To answer your question, I do not currently have the soap to say for sure if there’s a nut ingredient. However, I don’t see anything noting traces of nuts in the bug repellent. Since it is an allergy, I would still reach out to the company to be 100% sure before using it.
Commenting again about how good a product this is. We have now used it for a few summers in the Catskills. Still great. Have not found anything safer. We also continue to spray Wondercide and have had almost no ticks on any of us or the dog. It is also totally nontoxic and safe for pets and kids.

Just used this on my doggy. He is laid up but wants to sit outside. As soon as I applied some, the flies stopped “bugging” him. I dab just a bit on his ears, between his eyes/forehead, at the base of his tail and dabbed some all the way down, and a dot on each paw and he is good for a while.

Didnt work for me or my kids, I was very dissapointed after reading all the great reviews. We tested it as soon as it came in and I was bold enough to put shorts on my kids, put some ointment, and let them go outside! 15 mins later they were bit all over their legs. I put ointment on and put leggings, when outside and only lasted 10 mins before I was attacked. I personally wouldnt recommend.
