pulling a melted s'mores apart

Ready to seriously elevate your basic graham cracker s’more?

Gooey roasted marshmallow and melted chocolate bar s’mores are pretty much one of the best summer dessert ideas EVER! These must-try simple recipes conjure up fun campfire memories from my childhood, as well as those with my own kiddos.

pulling apart fudge striped s'more

We still love a great s’more, and we actually make them year round sometimes using the grill (or even indoors using the oven or gas stove burner). My kids and I recently tried some exciting s’more combinations, and today I’m sharing our favorites!

different candy and unique ingredients to make s'mores

Try these creative and yummy s’more ideas!

  • Bacon and chocolate may seem like an odd combination, but the sweet and salty combination is pretty yummy! If you’re a bacon fan, try it!
  • Fudge striped cookies are delicious by themselves, so when you add a roasted marshmallow, there’s no need for more chocolate. It’s the best 2-ingredient s’more!
  • Ever tried s’mores using a York Peppermint Patty on the inside?! This was our absolute favorite combo! Seriously, though – it’s like eating a Thin Mint S’more, and it was so good!

These s’mores were next level YUM!

I’m all for trying new ways to enjoy s’mores.  I think it would so fun to set up a Build Your Own S’more Bar at your next backyard gathering or camping trip and have all the ingredients on hand for everyone to build their ultimate s’more.

We like to make smores using Ritz crackers. We use miniature chocolate bars and the smaller marshmallows. We get that sweet salty mix and they aren’t so sweet.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

That sounds yummy, Nana! That’s one I would try, too!

    • shop4mybabies

my father in law loves the banana pudding people make with vanilla wafers…when he first married my mother in law, she made it with ritz crackers and they almost got divorced lol

  2. Jil

Fudge cookie is a 👎🏻. Good in theory but the cookies break when you smash the ‘mallow…

    • Jennifer

Sometimes my graham crackers break, too though, so I just put the whole squished, broken, delightful mess in my mouth☺️

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh darn ya we didn’t have that- I think melting the marshmallow well is key 😀

    • Angie

We have a fire pit in our backyard and we only use the Fudge cookies for our s’mores. It’s the easiest way to buy and also make them!
I would say I have bought maybe close to 30 packages of those cookies in the last 4 years.
We have neighbors, family, and friends over all the time and use them for our s’mores. They have worked great for us!

  3. Kristin A

E.L. Fudge cookies we just did last night. PERFECT! And we didn’t have to buy chocolate bars. Cook the marshmallow long enough and the cookie will not break.

  4. Britt

We made s’mores last weekend using brownie brittle instead of graham crackers. They were yummy- and brownie brittle is on sale at Costco buy 1 get 1

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks! That sounds like an awesome combo!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh nice! That’s a great one to try – thanks Britt!

  5. Tsquared

Has anyone tried the marshmallows that are filled with chocolate? I saw them at Walmart yesterday.

    • Luann

I saw some reviews from people who thought the chocolate-filled marshmallows were awful. I have not tried them.

  6. Beth

Spread peanut butter on two fudge-striped cookies and sandwich with a marshmallow. That’s my absolute favorite way to eat a s’more!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh yum! That sounds great 👍

  7. Kristine

Love the fudge striped cookie idea! We’re going camping this weekend and I’m going to try that and using peanut butter cookies in place of graham crackers.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yum! Have so much fun ❤️

  8. Sam

We’ve used the cookies before but will need to try the other options as well. We also do “winter” s’mores. These consist of graham crackers, Nutella and Marshmallow fluff. The kids love them!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh that’s fun! Thanks for sharing ❤️

  9. A

We tried similar things last year and it was just not right. One was 2 chocolate chip cookies as the outer part. We tried a few you listed as well and it was too sweet. I will take a traditional s’more any day.

  10. JEANINE PULLEY

The best combo ever is Ritz crackers with a regular sized marshmallow and a peanut butter cup…

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Wow -yum and thanks for sharing!

  11. Amy

Our favorite s’mores recipe is the Trader Joe’s Belgian Waffle cookies with toffee and almond Symphony bars and marshmallows… so good!

    • Laurie

Oh wow! I’m definitely trying that. Thanks

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Wow that sounds awesome – thanks for sharing!

  12. Blah

In our area we have Girl Scout Thanks-a-lot-cookies, they are shortbread on top n chocolate on bottom… they work great like fudge striped ones, just roast the marshmallow and put between them.

    • shop4mybabies

those are my most favorite cookie in the whole word, they do not sell them on the west coast any longer, this year i bought five boxes from ebay ..so bummed they don’t sell them here…the lemon shortbread ones are my second favorite and we also do not get those

  13. SL

I didn’t have any chocolate bars so we spread nutella on the graham crackers. SO good!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh yum I love Nutella! ❤️👏

  14. DG

I have not tried the York patties but I have tried it with Andes mints and it is amazing!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

oh yum! I bet that’s great too. 🙂
