Make the Ultimate Mashed Avocado Toast!
Anyone else obsessed with avocados?
My family is, and when avocados are mashed on top of a crusty piece of bread, it’s pretty much one of the best foods EVER! I could enjoy it any time of the day, but there’s just something fancy yet simplistic when you have avocado toast for breakfast.
I’ve even ordered avocado toast at trendy brunch places, which is kinda funny because it’s pretty easy to make your own gourmet version at home any day of the week.
Today, I’m sharing 3 easy ways to upgrade your avocado toast!
First, start with a generous piece of warm toast. I personally like to use a slice of substantial whole wheat bread, like the brand Dave’s Killer Bread, which will give ya some great avocado toast! You can, of course, use a baguette or your preference for bread.
The next step is making a basic avocado mash with salt, pepper, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, which really brightens the flavor. When picking avocados, you want them slightly soft, but not mushy or stringy.
Everything But The Bagel Avocado Toast
This is my personal “go-to” avocado toast variety that I make most often. I use Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel Seasoning featuring garlic, sesame seeds, onion, and salt. You can pick up a larger-sized, similar seasoning at Costco, or even make your own DIY Everything But the Bagel seasoning. I also like to add a pinch of red pepper flakes for additional flavor. So simple and YUM!
Bacon and Egg Avocado Toast
This toast gets topped with a diced piece of crispy bacon, a sliced hard-boiled egg, and garnished with some freshly chopped chives. It’s so good, and these flavors all together make for a well rounded satisfying breakfast of champions!
Hip Tip: My favorite, EASY way to make hard-boiled eggs for recipes is to use my air fryer! Place eggs in a basket, set the time to 16 minutes, and the temperature to 260 degrees. Place the cooked eggs in ice water and peel shells. Easy peasy!
Caprese Avocado Toast
This toast will satisfy your inner foodie for sure! It’s topped with a few bites of olive oil & herb soaked mozzarella cheese, roasted tomatoes, and balsamic vinegar glaze. My grocery store has a yummy gourmet olive and antipasto bar in the deli where you can usually find the mozzarella and tomatoes!
Also if you need an awesome recommendation for that crave-able type of aged syrupy balsamic vinegar, my favorite is this 25-year-old aged balsamic vinegar from Williams-Sonoma.

I’m in mashed avocado toast heaven! Such a fun and easy way to use up odds and ends in the fridge and pantry, too. There are so many veggie, cheese, and meat combinations to consider, and you could get really creative and have some fun in the kitchen experimenting.
Wake up to these Yummy Overnight Oats!
My local Aldi has avocados on sale this week for 49 cents each. Every few days I pick up 4-5 unripe avocados and leave them on the counter. Once they start to get ripe, I immediately put them in the fridge and rotate them using the older ones first. Have been making lots of avocado toast lately! Thanks for this post Lina 🙂
Yum Bunny! Boy that Aldi a awesome – wish I had one! Thanks for stopping by today!
My favorite add red onion and cayenne pepper to your avocado toast.
Yum! Thanks for sharing!
Try a poached egg 😍. Not hard to make. Carnival has the avocado toast with poached eggs on our last cruise.
Oh that’s a great idea – sounds yum!
This looks super good! I buy a balsamic glaze from trader joe’s that is only a few dollars that is really good, and may be a good alternative here.
Thanks for sharing Sally!
Ooh, we love that TJ glaze. I originally purchased it for one of our favorite uses for it during summer gardening time: slice of fresh tomato topped w/fresh mozzarella, glaze, then sprinkled w/fresh tiny 🌿 basil. Quick, easy, yum!
I’ll have to look for that, it sounds great! 🙂
Love avocado toast!! Haven’t tried the caprese one so excited to try that. Thanks!
Avocado toast on Ezekiel bread!!! My favorite!
Oh yum I’ll have to try that!
I like to rub garlic on hot toast….
Yum! Great suggestion!
Crush a few smoked almonds & add a drizzle of olive oil…..yummy avocado toast!
Yes! Sounds perfect 👌
Love avocado toast with homemade sourdough, aleppo pepper, and chili honey. We make our own with chili powder and honey. Fast, easy, and amazing. I love to hear what other people make. Thanks, Lina!
Oh I love the idea of chili honey! Sound so great – thanks Marcy!
I’m 43 and have made avacado toast my entire adult life, way before it was cool. My favorite are a poached egg and red onions, and also mixing a little cream cheese spread with it and smearing it on toast. I think I’ve eaten 2-3 avocados a week for 25 years or so. My favorite food on the planet.
Wow how awesome! And that all sounds yum. ❤️
This post is so great! I love Avocado toast! It is so delicious made with Trader Joe’s Cracked Wheat Sourdough bread! I sometimes put a sliced tomato and fried egg on top, then sprinkle with Trader Joe’s Chile Lime seasoning! Thanks for the idea of the caprese toast! I must try it asap!!
Yes you’ll love that one I think! And yours sounds yum too- I’ve heard about this chili lime seasoning and I need to try that also! Thanks Alison ❤️
If you can find English muffin bread avocado toast made with mashed chickpeas, (adds lots of fiber) topped with diced fresh tomatoes, a little cilantro finely chopped!
Oh yum! I like the chickpeas idea, and will look for that bread! Thanks Pam!
Are you or anyone on your team doing Keto? I know it’s unrelated, I just started, but I’m trying to find a good creamer substitute for coffee!
Hi Gwen – we have an entire Keto site!! It’s awesome and so helpful.
Here’s our creamer recipe!

Now I’m hungry and I don’t have any avocados, but I’m taking notes! I keep it simple generally. Publix 5 Grain bread…drizzle a little garlic infused EVOO, mashed avocado, salt/pepper and top with a over medium fried egg.
Yum!! Sounds great to me Mary 😀
I have avocado toast every morning but I cheat and use guacamole! I buy the large pack of holy guacamole from Costco ( the mini cups) and put it on toast with a slice of tomato! It’s faster and easier
I do that, too!! I prefer fresh avocado but keep pre-packaged guac on hand to use in a pinch.
I hard boil my eggs in the instapot. Manual for 3 minutes and they are perfect
I love this! My kids have avocado toast on a weekly basis with fried egg on top and the Trader Joe’s everything bagel sprinkled on top. It’s truly a full filling breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Thanks for posting!🤗
Yep…Trader Joe’s Everything but the Bagel sprinkled on top is the best!
I just put whole avocado slices (no need to mash!) on top of toasted (and buttered) sourdough and sprinkle with the Everything but the Bagel seasoning! Delicious everytime!
I LOVE avocados, have for years, and I sometimes use mashed avocado as a sandwich spread instead of mayo. I actually won’t order avocado toast when I go out because it’s so “trendy” lol but I make it at home all the time and have since before it was so popular.
Awesome! I love replacing mayo with it too ❤️ so yum.
I made the avocado toast with the everything bagel seasoning and red pepper flakes. Thank you FOR this; it was truly amazing!
Oh yum!! Thanks Courtney!
Has anyone tried the bagel seasoning from Walmart? I wonder how it compares. I used up my TJ’s on the chicken tender recipe.
My Aldi has an everything but the bagel seasoning. 👍
I saw “everything” seasoning at my local Aldi today. I may have to go back and get some just to try this recipe.
Yes!! I wish I had an Aldi! I’m sure it’s a great version 👍❤️
Just diced tomatoes on my avo toast 😋 smack delish 😉
